Job Description

The Chief Operating Officer is a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the Managing Director (MD). The key goal is to secure the functionality of business to drive extensive and sustainable growth. You will collaborate with MD in setting and driving organization vision, operational strategy and hiring needs. You will also translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management and deployment of the organization’s overall Plan to Win (PTW) strategy and system initiatives. You will oversee the operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Accountabilities

  • Plays a lead role in strategy development for McDonald’s Singapore and leads the execution of strategies with short-term and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the overall company strategy and initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Senior Leadership Team to define the operating infrastructure of restaurant systems and the long-term operating strategies for all operating activities conducted within the restaurant including food preparation, drive-thru, maintenance and restaurant technologies.
  • Directly oversees Operations (including Restaurant Solutions Group, Learning & Development, Delivery & Drive-thru), Human Resources and Technology and work alongside with MD on overall organization budget for sufficient investment capital to achieve growth targets.
  • Identifies and drives improvements to restaurant systems that enhance efficiency, elevate the customer experience, and support sustainable business growth.
  • Builds and sustains a strong performance-driven, values-based culture aligned with McDonald’s purpose and people-first philosophy.

Tactical Accountabilities

Operations

  • Leads the deployment of company programs and initiatives to Singapore restaurants and Project management of growth Platforms.
  • Ensures effective project management and resource coordination for operational rollouts.
  • Oversees the quality, accuracy, and scalability of restaurant materials and deployment tools.
  • Works cross-functionally to ensure operational alignment and stakeholder engagement.
  • Establishes and reports on performance targets related to execution, customer satisfaction, and operational KPIs.

Technology

  • Partners with Technology leadership to drive digitization across both front-of-house and back-of-house systems.
  • Ensures that technology initiatives are operationally grounded, scalable, and aligned with strategic business goals.
  • Promotes collaboration between Tech, Operations, and HR to enhance both customer experience and employee productivity (e.g., POS systems, scheduling tools, in-restaurant platforms).
  • Supports innovation and continuous improvement across digital platforms and restaurant technology solutions.

People

  • Leads and develops a high-performing operations leadership team with a strong focus on coaching, development, and recognition.
  • Partners with HR to execute people strategies around workforce planning, capability building, and succession development.
  • Reinforces a culture of learning, engagement, and accountability across all levels of restaurant leadership.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of senior operational leadership experience , ideally in the QSR or F&B industry.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams across operations, HR, development, and real estate.
  • Track record of executing strategy at scale and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of restaurant operations, system development, and performance improvement.
  • Passionate about people leadership and culture building.
  • Comfortable with restaurant and business technologies; experience with digital transformation is a plus.
  • Strong crisis management skills and the ability to lead through change.
  • Experienced in fostering strong relationships with internal and external partners.

Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within the soft commodity sector.

Strong understanding of international logistics, trading documentation, and customs processes.

Experience working in a regional or global matrix organization.

Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills.

Effective communication and leadership abilities.

Ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.

As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and operational management of our organization.   • Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations across all business functions, including sales, marketing, finance, human resources, and customer service, ensuring efficiency and alignment with company goals.
  • Financial Management: Manage and monitor the company's financial performance, ensuring profitability, cost management, and effective resource allocation. Develop budgets, financial forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the business stays on track.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor senior management and department heads, ensuring effective performance management, professional development, and talent retention across the organization.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and market segments to expand the company's market share and revenue streams. Foster relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and industry leaders.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Monitor and mitigate risks related to financial, operational, and legal matters. Ensure the organization adheres to industry regulations and complies with corporate governance standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors, senior management, and other stakeholders. Prepare and present regular updates on organizational performance, strategic initiatives, and key challenges.
  • Cultural Stewardship: Shape and maintain the organizational culture, ensuring that the organization's values, mission, and vision are clearly communicated and embraced across all levels of the organization.
