Essential Job Duties:

Specific department duties as set forth in the task list and department Training Checklists including but not limited to:
  • Ensure that specimens are picked up from the appropriate department, sorted, pre-scanned and registered into the appropriate temperature bins in a timely fashion
  • Identification of problem samples and corrects routing of these specimens.
  • Close and prepare SDS shipments.
  • Accountable for accurately identifying specimens that need to be discarded and completing the discard process.
  • Creation of new storage drawers for use in registration process and the ability to completed location moves in the SMART database
  • Consolidate and move drawers as specified to effectively utilize freezer space.
  • Perform basic freezer maintenance including but not limited to:
    • Acts as a backup to the freezer coordinator.
    • Monitor, respond to and resolve issues with sample storage units in the department, to ensure regulatory compliance and monitor follow-up for corrective actions.
    • Accountable for completing documentation in the process
  • Understand the pull list and retrieve the specimens from the storage units
  • Understand and apply the shipping instructions and pack the specimens as per requirements.
  • Generation and application of specialized labels, to include mini labels and/or computer generated barcodes
  • Perform any QC needed during the process of pulling and packaging
  • Must be able to QC shipments shipped through SMART
  • QC packages and shipping documents
  • Stock supplies from warehouse
  • Ship packages through SMART
  • Ship pass-through and Transfer Test packages to other Covance locations
  • Generate and download Electronic Packing Lists (EPLs) from SMART
  • Generate emails and insert EPLs
  • Be able to accurately and efficiently Pre-scan, Register, Process, Pull and Pack specimens using SMART
  • Completion of beginning and end of day duties, as assigned
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and perform all departmental and interdepartmental SOP’s as written
  • Generate an appropriate audit trail of all activities and maintains own training file and required documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree / advanced degree in applicable discipline
  • Minimum 1 year of applicable working experience
  • Able to work in a team as well as independently

We are looking for a Research Assistant/Associate to contribute to a translational research project aimed at improving symptom monitoring and management in patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS-D) through the development of a novel, AI-enabled wearable device. The role will focus on conducting clinical trials, collecting and analysing biomedical data, training machine learning models for bowel sound classification, and supporting prototype refinement and software integration for eventual commercialisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct clinical trial operations, including patient recruitment and data collection

  • Preparation of IRB applications, informed consent forms, and study protocol amendments in accordance with institutional and regulatory guidelines

  • Manage and preprocess biosignal data for analysis and AI model training

  • Collaborate with partners on prototype testing and development

Required educational qualification, experience, skills and competencies:

Job Description* **Based in Singapore**, the regional hub for **Asia Pacific (AP)** and **top-ranked biopharmaceutical company on the Straits Times** and **Statista’s list of Best Employers in Singapore for two consecutive years (2020, 2021).*** Join the **premier biopharmaceutical company** that has been **in Singapore for more than 25 years and in AP for over 60 years.**This position reports to the Manager in the Microbiology Laboratory of Biotechnology Facility.**WHAT YOU WILL DO***Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:** Perform routine/non-routine quality monitoring, sampling and testing of Utility systems inclusive of Purified water, Water for Injection, Pure steam. Compressed air and Nitrogen systems.* Perform the routine/non-routine environmental monitoring for all required plants, facilities, clean rooms, hygienic areas and labs, inclusive of particle monitoring test.* Perform personnel qualification and re-qualification and also to lead qualification and re-qualification of the clean rooms, when necessary.* Provide testing support to plant validation activities* Perform in-process and release samples testing of excipient/ packaging components for the different drug products, semi-finished drug product and drug substances. i.e., Sterility test, Bacterial endotoxin test, Bioburden test, Microbial Limits Test, etc., as appropriate.* Perform routine and Batch related Environmental monitoring in clean rooms and other production areas and laboratory.* Perform Media Receival, Sterility check and Growth Promotion Tests for media used for testing.* Perform initial Quality Control check and regular QC checks on ready-to-use cultures and maintenance of cell cultures.* Perform microbial identification (Bacteria, mold and yeast) in water, environment and product samples.* Perform periodic review of closed out Validation Document packages and Standard Operating Procedures.* Extend documentation support to the department by participating in writing/revising of SOPs, protocols, Test reports and any other work assigned by the Senior, Lead Microbiologist, Sr/ Manager, Microbiology.* Liaise with external vendors on instrument calibration and maintenance.* Solicit quotations of laboratory consumables.* Maintain continuous supply of laboratory consumables* Participate in SHE, Business Compliance, cGMP and all other compliance-related matters, where applicable.* Supervise and oversee Third Party Contractors, where applicable* Liaise with other department for training needs and technical support* Liaise with vendor and service engineers/ESPs for equipment validation, calibration and maintenance work.* Need to coordinate with suppliers of microbiological media and other equipment.* Need to coordinate with Quality, respective Plant operations, Projects and Engineering & Maintenance* Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/ Manager**WHAT YOU MUST HAVE**To be successful in this role, you will have:**Qualifications:**• Degree in Microbiology / Science (general) / related Engineering field**Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:**• Good understanding of Safety and cGMP practices• Computer Literacy• Good oral and written communication skillsWe are proud to be a company that embraces the value of bringing diverse, talented, and committed people together.
