What the role is:

The mission of SFA is to ensure and secure a supply of safe food for Singapore. The Urban Food Solutions Division drives the development of productive, resource efficient and climate resilient technologies and innovation in tropical aquaculture and urban agriculture by building scientific expertise and strategic partnerships with academia and industry stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the Agri-tech and Food Innovation Department to: drive strategic research to improve resiliency of local farming; establish R&D ecosystem with capability and capacity to develop and translate technology to the local agri-industry; provide technical expertise to support policies and operations on urban agriculture in SFA.

What you will be working on:

Job Description

· Responsible to deploy manpower for daily landscape maintenance duties and attend to urgent cases when necessary.

· Responsible to keep track and schedule for daily landscape maintenance accordingly and understand the quality of duties required by the Superior.

· Able to handle machinery and equipment such as hedge trimmers, chainsaws, long arm pruner, blower, etc.

· In charge and understand the safety requirements when working outside and inside working areas.

· Able to demonstrate the basic knowledge in Horticulture Maintenance such as proper pruning methods for shrubs and trees,daily maintenance duties which include watering, fertilizing, weeding, mulching, planting, plant removal etc, protect trees and plants from diseases and insect infestations and planting works.

• Work with Landscape Designer, Supervisor, Salesperson and Customer to review and install/implement Landscape projects, based on contract.

· Supervise crew on Landscape projects.

Job Requirement

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Horticulture Manager to lead our landscape maintenance and implementation teams. This position plays a key role in ensuring the health, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal of our green spaces through expert horticultural practices, effective team leadership, and strong client engagement.

• Landscape & Horticultural Management
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure the quality of the landscape and resolve any horticultural issues.
  • Provide expert guidance on turf, plant, and tree care, including fertiliser and chemical usage.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective solutions for landscape and horticultural challenges.
  • Plan and forecast fertiliser and chemical requirements to optimise resources

Assistant Manager, Horticulture - Rainforest Wild Africa

Mandai Wildlife Group is the steward of Mandai Wildlife Reserve, a unique wildlife and nature destination in Singapore that is home to world-renown wildlife parks which connect visitors to the fascinating world of wildlife. The Group is driving an exciting rejuvenation plan at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, adjacent to Singapore’s Central Catchment Nature Reserve, that will integrate five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.

• Taking Over/Handing over with development groups for Rainforest Wild Africa (RFS)
• Plan and manage horticulture operations, analyze resources to achieve higher efficiency and productivity; provide direction and guidance to the team to achieve quality and timely completion of work tasks
• Liaise with stakeholders for day-to-day needs and plan for ad hoc requests within the limited time without affecting the original maintenance schedule
• Establish good rapport with external vendors to ensure diverse and quality supply of plants and landscape materials
• Control and enforce departmental policies aligned with the organisation’s vision, mission and values
• Collaborate with the entire RFS team to ensure smooth running of the park for guests

• Assist Assistant Vice President and Manager to oversee horticulture operations ensuring the desired landscape design intent for the park is met.
• Provide guidance to Horticulture Officer to achieve quality and timely completion of work tasks.
• Support in Transition Planning and Ranger & Process Champion with Development Team for Rainforest Wild Asia in collaboration with HR and Animal Care Team.
• Coordinate with the Development Team and its landscape contractor/ consultant for DLP management, including involvement in routine joint inspection, defects identification and registry preparing for smooth hand over / take over.

• Accredited as Certified Practicing Horticulturist or ISA certified Arborist will be an added advantage.
