What role will you play? You will be responsible for deal origination and client engagement, as well as be involved in building complex and dynamic financial models to evaluate lending opportunities, conducting research, assisting in the structuring and sizing of funding packages, and structuring, pricing, selling and executing bespoke derivative products. You will also prepare investment memoranda for internal approvals, prepare term sheets and pitch books for clients for finance and derivative transactions and liaise with both internal and external stakeholders including financial advisors and external legal counsel. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients will be important in this role as well as new business development and engagement with target clients.
What You Offer

- 5+ years of work experience in a bank with proven research, numerical, analytical and valuation skills including analysing and building financial models with a high proficiency in MS Excel
- An existing network in the mining sector in APAC including producers, debt and hedge advisors and legal counsels
- A Masters’ level degree in Finance, Commerce, Engineering or similar with a high academic achievement record
- Experience in drafting, negotiating and closing term sheets and full form legal documentation for loans and bespoke ISDAs with clients and their advisors
- Sales and origination experience in providing derivative structuring including commodity forwards, swaps and options
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Overview
We are representing our client in the search for a mid-level Legal Counsel who is eager to take on substantial responsibility and grow into the company’s future Head of Legal / Senior Legal Counsel. This opportunity is well-suited for a self-driven lawyer with a solid background in contract drafting, mining and infrastructure projects, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be confident working independently and managing the full spectrum of legal matters. In this role, you will draft and negotiate critical contracts, provide legal guidance to management, and oversee dispute matters, while progressively building the strategic and leadership capabilities required to eventually lead the legal function.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Advisory & Support
- Provide practical legal advice to management and operational teams on mining, shipping, infrastructure, and logistics projects.
- Research and advise on legal risks and regulatory obligations across Singapore, West Africa (OHADA jurisdictions), and Laos.
- Support ESG compliance and risk management initiatives.
