What the role is

LED is seeking a dynamic individual to join us in our journey to pioneer the transformation of legal operations and prosecution work using technology. What you will be working on

  • Work closely with a cross-functional AI development project team including data scientists and development engineers in an agile way, first to develop a database of infringement reports, evidence and the assessment of evidence which will be used to train the AI model, and later to develop and refine the product.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the AI system in assessing evidence and recommending a prosecutorial decision.

As a legal counsel at Goodnotes, your role will be to offer legal support in various corporate, commercial, and regulatory legal matters, including GDPR compliance support.   • Provides legal support for the management of credit risk-related matters (parent company guarantees, credit insurance, set-off agreements, insolvency proceedings, etc.); supervises the corporate secretary and all corporate matters
  • Attends the One TotalEnergies One Legal Singapore (OTOL) meetings, organizes and participates in legal training for Singapore and OTOL lawyers.
Qualifications
  • L.L.B. or J.D., preferably qualified in Singapore or the UK, with a sound understanding of contract law.
  • Experience in the energy sector - knowledge of marine fuels and LNG products will be desirable;
  • Independent, with the ability to analyze, manage and balance well various risks, priorities, commercial expectations and timelines; Ability to work in an international and fast-moving environment;
  • Good interpersonal relationships and understanding of cross-functional management mechanisms and collaboration;
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.
  • At least 5 years of 'post-qualification experience' in either a law firm or as a legal counsel at an established company.

Responsibilities

  • Render advice and provide comprehensive and practical solutions on a wide range of issues, ranging from contract law, intellectual property law, corporate governance, criminal law, employment law, family law, regulatory matters under relevant legislation.
  • You will be involved in the prosecution of various statutory offences under relevant legislation (preparing and conducting mentions, pre-trial conferences and trials) and handle legal issues relating to enforcement and investigations.
  • Be involved in the legal groundwork for key policy changes, analyse new policies, advise on the required legislation changes and draft/propose the legislation amendments; liaise with the Attorney-General’s Chambers on legislation changes.
  • Draft, vet and provide legal advice on a range of contracts, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), terms & conditions and other documents, including those related to goods and services, IT, construction, investments, real estate, non-disclosure agreements, etc.
  • Conduct educational legal talks and support innovative legal projects.
Requirements
  • Trained in Law and qualified under the Legal Profession Act.
  • Experience in Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) in private practice and/or in-house.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to write clearly and reason compellingly.
  • Strong ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Prosecution experience preferred. Strong candidates without prosecution experience will also be considered, as the relevant training will be provided.

  • Good legal research skills, including for foreign jurisdictions.
  • Resourceful, ability to adjust to changing requirements, schedules and priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Organization skills with ability to monitor follow-through.
  • Familiarity with PRC legal frameworks, particularly in gaming or digital industries, is an advantage but not required.
  • Singaporean and PR preferred.
