The Opportunity

We are seeking Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a hands-on role that plays a critical part in the end-to-end development of our amusement and arcade machines—from initial concept through to mass production. You will be instrumental in shaping the physical design of our products, ensuring they are innovative, reliable, and manufacturable at scale.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for developing robust mechanical solutions for amusement and arcade machines, from concept to mass production. This role requires strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and a focus on quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The engineer provides technical leadership within the team and ensures that designs meet performance, manufacturing, and regulatory requirements.

• Develop and deliver mechanical designs that meet product specifications, performance, and cost targets.
• Create and review 3D and 2D CAD models, engineering drawings, and supporting calculations.
• Provide technical guidance to other engineers and ensure high standards in design and documentation.
• Participate in design reviews, FMEA, DFM/DFA analysis, and validation planning.
• Identify and address design trade-offs to meet safety, cost, and reliability goals.
• Conduct testing, root cause analysis, and implement design improvements based on results.
• Collaborate with suppliers, including managing RFQs, sourcing components, and supporting prototype builds.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable, serviceable, and comply with relevant standards (e.g., CE, UL).
• Maintain BOMs and support engineering changes through formal documentation processes.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including software, electrical, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing.
• Support the development of technical documentation and contribute to lessons learned.
• Travel regionally as needed to support supplier engagement, prototyping, and production validation.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with electro-mechanical systems.
• Proficient in 3D and 2D CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred), with knowledge of surfacing and FEM.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal design, plastics, plywood, and MDF.
• Experience with mechanical calculations including kinematics, stress, and force analysis.
• Skilled in conducting testing, failure analysis, and data-driven design improvements.
• Familiar with tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong documentation and communication skills; able to present technical concepts clearly.
• Hands-on and resourceful, with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Qualifications/Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent).

Special Requirements

• Experience with 3D printing and prototyping (FDM method preferred).
• Knowledge of mechatronics, vacuum forming, and injection molding.
• Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems and collaborative tools (e.g., Confluence).
• Interest in gaming products and a passion for creative problem solving.
• Willingness to travel and be hands-on during product setup and validation phases

POSITION OVERVIEW

Curiox is seeking a mechanical design engineer, preferably with prior experience in designing and maintaining electro-mechanical machinery or instruments.

This position will be responsible for continuous improvement of the Curiox line of instruments. This position is located in Singapore.

The new hire will participate in new product development, including providing instrument design solutions, proof-of-concept prototypes, and supporting development activities. An ideal candidate will be expected to:

• Coordinate all phases of assigned area deck machinery engineering projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, design, equipment commissioning, and project closure
