Job Description
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to plan, organize, and oversee engineering projects related to product development. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in managing project requirements, budgets, and schedules. They should be adept at guiding engineering projects, delegating tasks to engineers, and monitoring progress to ensure that engineering goals are achieved.
What you'll be doing
- Initiate and lead engineering projects to create new products or systems.
- Be willing to take a hands-on approach in designing, coding, and debugging software applications.
- Take an active role in enforcing coding standards, conducting code reviews, and adhering to best practices to drive code quality and manage technical debt effectively.
- Assemble, train and delegate tasks to engineering teams.
- Track project progress and create related reports.
- Propose and implement project schedules, budgets and resources.
- Communicate project needs and metrics to other managers and teams.
- Ensure engineer tasks and project milestones are being met seamlessly and as scheduled.
- Act as an important mentor for junior engineers and lead for engineering guidelines.

- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software systems and processes.

Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
- Relevant years of experience in engineering, software development, product development or related fields.
- Proficient in agile methodologies and best practices for the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing teams of engineers, DevOps, and QA professionals. Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain top talent.
- Ability to manage, coordinate and set clear project guidelines for engineering teams.
- Experience working in a dynamic, agile environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and customers.
- Experience in the crypto industry, digital wallets, financial trading, or digital payments is a plus.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin to support the oversea teams.
- Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest technological trends and practices.

You will be part of a core technical team working in large-scale waste management facilities and waste-to-energy plants. The scope of work will involve both project management and operations/maintenance support depending on your posting.
Project Work (Construction & Commissioning)
- Support engineers in supervising construction progress for major waste management facilities.
- Collaborate with project consultants and government stakeholders to ensure facilities are designed, constructed, and installed according to specifications and statutory requirements.
- Participate in testing and commissioning of mechanical, process, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems.
- Attend local and overseas factory acceptance tests (FATs) to verify quality and performance of critical equipment.
Operations & Maintenance (Waste-to-Energy Facilities)
- Lead a unit of technical specialists and coordinate maintenance work with contractors and internal teams to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
- Implement preventive maintenance and overhaul programs for electrical and control equipment including turbo-generators, motors, switchgears, low- and high-tension systems, distributed control systems, and field instruments.
- Administer contracts for operation and maintenance of mechanical, EICA, and building services equipment.
- Enforce permit-to-work systems, safety protocols, and supervise contractor activities for quality and safety compliance.
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and equipment testing/changeover programs.
- Perform rotating shift duties, including weekends and public holidays, if required.
- Assist engineers in implementing safety and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety culture and drive operational excellence.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Engineering (any discipline) or Nitec in Engineering.
- Diploma holders: at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Nitec holders: 6–8 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Professional certifications such as Licensed Electrical Worker, Boiler Attendant, or Workplace Safety and Health Officer will be an advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge with analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of solid waste management will be beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Navisworks and Primavera P6 is advantageous.
- Mature, independent, resourceful, and a good team player.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
