ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The main responsibilities of this role is to ensure solution and architectural design satisfies customer technical and project requirements (including budget and schedule); ensuring solution is implemented in line with product policy, legislation, appropriate technical regulatory framework, design obligations and that technical risk are clearly identified and managed.
The architect is a member of the Engineering team, reports functionally to the Engineering Manager and operationally to the Engineering Delivery Manager or Project Manager.
He may interface with Technical Directors and Product/Project Design Authorities from the Business Lines to get approvals on solution design/change.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As aSolution Architect, you are accountable for:
- Plan, design, lead & maintain the solution architecture for Bids and Projects throughout all lifecycle phases.
- Define and propose innovative solutions to meet customer requirements in compliance with product/system technical strategy.
- Analyze technical and technological choices to ensure the best trade-off between customer requirements, technical solutions, costs and risk control.
- Ensure standardization and adequate re-use in solutions as defined/recommended by the PDA (Product/Project Design Authority) and DA (Design Authority) from Thales Business Lines.
- Contribute to definitions on technical specification, scope of work, and choice of subcontractor for needed subsystem acquisition, taking into account possible export controls.
- Coordinate with PDA/DA to ensure top down refinement of solutions is consistent with software/system strategy and constraints, including COTS & OSS selection and components reuse.
- Ensure software & system architecture stability across lifecycle phases from Bid to Delivery.
- Direct and coordinate software architecture studies and documentations.
- Approve the technical, technological, and methodological choices taken in respect of the selected software & system architecture.
- Guarantee adherence to in-scope standards, reuse policy and product development plans.
- Identify modelling, simulation and prototyping opportunities for current and future use.
- Prepare solution design & justifications for selected design
- Provide guidance to others on state-of-the-art software & system architecting, taking into account future trends.
- Collaborate with software engineering manager (SwEM) in checking "Software Asset Management (SAM)" for software components and ensure components used in engineering workbenches are properly captured (codification, compliance, impacts on costs, etc).
- Collaborate with hardware infrastructure, cyber security, and network team in reviewing and ensuring design completeness in compliance with bids and project requirements, as well as design to costs, schedule and manageable risks
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline (essential)
- Higher degree qualifications are desirable.
- TOGAF certification is highly desirable.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior Engineering role
- Experience in collaborating or managing multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in managing multiple small projects simultaneously
- Strong oral and written communications & liaison skills
- Experience working within a Solution/Systems Engineering lifecycle
- Experience working in projects supporting end-to-end from bid, design to delivery
- Passion in ensuring good design in solutions and able to balance risk costs factors
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a project management or systems delivery management role
- Experience working in large scale Security projects
- Experience with large scale integration of data, sensors, video management systems or 3rd party systems
- Good knowledge of design and validation processes throughout lifecycle of projects
- Membership of relevant professional organisation, e.g. INCOSE, Institution of Engineers Singapore, etc.

Today, more than ever, we often have to solve complex problems that requires the team to bring together knowledge from different areas of expertise in order to be able to solve complex problems in the Murex instance life cycle (presales, projects, productions).
Hence, the need for individuals with a T-shaped expertise; someone who possesses deep domain expertise in at least one specific area (FX cash business, Accounting standards, Basel Regulation, Models, Flex, Database management, Testing etc…), together with the ability to use this knowledge to cut across the silos, is what the Architecture domain is looking for to contribute to the growth of the team.
The Solution Architect in Murex is someone who has the curiosity and ability to collect and master expertise in many disciplines and she/he is able to draw on that wide knowledge base to recognize patterns, connect dots and improvise solutions. She/he is able to look at the complex problem in its globality and break it down to smaller solvable pieces.
She/he provides the glue between the variety of different experts (Trading, ERM, PAC, OPS, FIN, TEST, Project methodology…) helping to explain to each of them why the work they are doing relates to the work other people are doing, sometimes making the non-obvious connection between things. The characteristics of a solution architect is a high openness to new experience, a thirst for cognition.
Your responsibilities include:
- Main Contact to the client design board in charge of major cross business and technology design decisions
- Work with Project Managers ensuring smooth delivery on all projects, extensions by sharing insights, knowledge, and understanding of the client’s strengths and expertise
- Seek collaborative opportunities, both internally and externally, identifying occasions to enhance a project by working across teams at Murex
- Define test and migration strategy with optimal coverage of functional & technical components
- Assess Production instance quality in collaboration with Product champions/community of experts and Production managers
- Contribute to presales activities
As an active member of the Architecture Domain, you will also need to contribute to the development of the domain:
- Share awareness on market and industry trends
- On-board Architects through building solution expertise on your strength areas or on specificities of its geographic regions
- Participate actively in initiatives and innovation around methodologies (Agile, CI, UaaS, Test, Data migration,…) with other teams (SO, PM, Funct and tech domains)
To be successful in this role:
- At least 10 years of Murex experience
- Experience with Managed Services is a plus
- Project methodologies: Waterfall, Agile, CI/CD
- Strong academic background in business, finance, mathematics, and accounting
- Knowledge and proven experience in capital markets software for trading, risk management, processing, or consulting
- Broad experience on complex implementations
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical abilities to understand complex issues and be able to either dive into details with experts or summarize for non-experts

Role Summary: The Solution Architect is responsible for developing concept leveraging on latest technology to achieve the user requirements. The Architect will work closely with the Application Manager and other solution architects to design systems, including the integration with the 3rd party external systems. The Architect not only ensures that the solutions are in line with enterprise architectures and strategies but assists further to influence senior stakeholders to enable an effective design to be implemented.

Role and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Solution Architect is to create high quality solution designs which address all architectural concerns including business, information, application and infrastructure. These include:
- Involve and responsible for design of overall cloud architecture including technology, system and application software.
- Responsible for setting up the design and development standards to be aligned across the development team.
- Responsible for advising development and infrastructure teams on full range of Azure cloud technology usage and implementation (from DevSecOps, Containers & Microservices, Security, DRaaS, etc).
- Analyze (to-be) business problems and opportunities and designs technical solutions (Data Science, AI, ML, …) that will bring values to the business.
- Own the Architecture solution and drive the delivery of the solution. Focusing on delivery, compliance (security) and adherence to project milestones.
- Works with all IT functions to ensure the solution is covered from inception to Production support – ensuring the solution is compliant.
- Highlights the Key architectural use cases and ensures Architectural principles are covered in the High-level design.
- Work with the Head of Technology to drive the realization of the architecture into the design detail, where applicable adopting the 4+1 architectural view.
- Undertake project management responsibility when required for architecture related projects.
- Advice in business and IT planning.
- Present the proposed architecture to IT & business stakeholders
- “Sell” the architecture process, its outcome and ongoing results.
- To be responsible as well for the integration and implementation with 3rd party products and/or COTS.
- Participate in decision-making process around technology strategy, conduct analysis on technical viability of solutions and provide guidance on delivery of complex projects.
- Conduct research around best practices and/or new concepts and to adequately communicate and document such created solutions. These engagements extend to third party platforms and tools which the Architect will undertake to pursue with the respective third party technical designates.
- Liaise with vendors on scope, milestone and acceptance criteria of architecture related projects.
- Works closely with the Team members in IT Delivery, IT Operations and IT Central Services.
Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Engineering/Science or a related discipline is preferred;
- Have at least 6 years relevant experience in leading the design, development, implementation of large scale and highly available enterprise wide architecture systems with complex and diverse integration with other applications and systems;
- Strategic thinking and forward looking on cloud related technology.
- Able to review existing XPF business environment and technology landscape; to strategize and develop a solid architecture roadmap for technology transformation for the next 3-5 years.
- Depth of experience with web application and database design considerations.
- Familiar with Microsoft Technology (OS, SQL, Azure – IaaS, PaaS, etc).
- Familiarity with Software Change/Configuration Management and Build Processes in a complex environment
- Experience with working in an environment that is transforming from traditional software development to DevOps.
- Ability to apply design concepts – layered architectures, components, interfaces, messaging and patterns.
- Knowledgeable in enterprise architecture - especially covering .Net and solutions.
- Leads POCs to spearhead development initiatives to support the business.
- Highly experienced in the practical application of Architecture in supporting change and day to day operations.
- Preferably with experience in delivering change within the shipping Industry, including experience in both large-scale programs and projects as well as smaller-scale change requests. Must include practical understanding of software development lifecycles and methods, including requirements definition and testing in both waterfall and Agile environments.
- Knowledge of software development process methodologies like RUP and / or Agile.
- General awareness of business regulatory and technological change within shipping industry will be beneficial but not mandatory.
- Possess a proven and successful track record in delivering complex IT projects/programs.
- Ability to prepare and give presentations.
- Ability to communicate with the business clients in non-technical terms.
