Roles & Responsibilities

• Responsible for generating scripts and templates required for the automatic provisioning of resources
• Discover standard cloud services offerings, install, and execute processes and standards for optimal use of cloud service provider offerings.
• Build scripts to integrate with the organization’s systems as a service offering.
• Stay well-informed of failures and complications related to a cloud offering.
• Responsible for debugging technical issues inside a complex stack involving virtualization, containers, microservices, etc.

Requirements:

• Mandatory - having expertise in deploying and managing IaaS & PaaS Infrastructure services on AWS, GCP & VMWare environments using Terraform, Cloud Formation, CDK (Cloud Development Kit) & Ansible
• Hands on experience in Ansible tower as well as writing and deploying Ansible Playbooks
• Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner or Sys Ops .
• MUST have experience on Singapore Government Cloud
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker , Kubernetes Docker and EKS. And
• Public cloud delivery know-how with AWS and/or Azure
• Hands-on AWS experience with at least 2 implementation (preferred in an Enterprise scale environment)
• Experience with core AWS platform architecture, including areas such as: Organizations, Account Design, VPC, Subnet, segmentation strategies.
• Experience with Cloud native Backup and Disaster Recovery approach and design
• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipeline (GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory)
• Familiar with Encryption, Logging, and Privacy/Security Protocols (e.g. TLS 1.2, ELK stack)

Overview

The Cloud Engineer will be involved in application infrastructure support and operations hosted in both the Government Data Centre (GDC) and Government Commercial Cloud (GCC).

What we seek to accomplish together:

1. Manage infrastructure services that enable the application systems environment, including patch management and asset management.
2. Support application architecture design, integration, acceptance testing, and infrastructure performance testing. Assist in Incident and Problem Management outside standard operating procedures.
3. Track cases and follow up on problem resolution.
4. Plan, manage, and deploy Cloud services with Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) such as Azure and AWS.
5. Design system architecture, resource planning, and manage infrastructure performance and hosting environments, including server hardware, OS, virtualization, and storage, supporting new applications.
6. Utilize automation and orchestration platforms (e.g., Scripts, Ansible, Terraform) for Infrastructure Automation tasks.
7. Manage CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Bamboo, GitLab, Azure DevOps, SHIP/HAT.
8. Ensure smooth and sustainable operations, including resiliency requirements, with a strong understanding of systems operations environment.
9. Understand Government Cloud IT Security Policies. Knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Perl, Shell, AWK, TCL) and communication protocols (REST, SNMP, SOAP).

The primary purpose of an IT Cloud Engineer is to design, implement, and manage cloud-based systems and infrastructure to support an organization's IT needs.

Here are some key responsibilities:

• Cloud Architecture Design: Creating and maintaining the architecture of cloud environments, ensuring they meet the organization's requirements for scalability, security, and performance.
• Deployment and Migration: Managing the deployment of applications and services to the cloud, and overseeing the migration of existing systems to cloud platforms.
• Security Management: Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect cloud-based systems and data from threats and vulnerabilities.
• Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitoring the performance of cloud systems, identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal operation.

Cloud Infrastructure (Azure / AWS):

• Design and implement High Availability, Backup, and Recovery solutions on Azure and AWS.
• Manage large-scale infrastructure project implementations and deployments.
• Review Vulnerability and Security Assessment reports; propose and implement appropriate remediation or infrastructure improvements.
• Ensure infrastructure solutions are scalable, high-performing, and aligned with SLA requirements.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including future-state architecture, current gaps, and transition roadmaps.
• Conduct independent research on application technologies and cloud services to support evolving business needs.
• Collaborate with vendors to plan, deploy, and support cloud solutions.

Microsoft 365 Administration:

• Administer and manage Microsoft 365 services, including:Exchange Online: mailbox management, mail flow rules, compliance setup. Microsoft Teams: user configuration, governance enforcement. SharePoint Online: site collection admin, permissions control, content structuring. OneDrive for Business: user support, sync troubleshooting, policy application. Power Platform: monitor flows and apps, basic issue resolution. Microsoft Intune: device compliance, configuration policies, app deployment.
• Provide Level 2/3 support for escalated client issues related to M365 services.
• Participate in M365 projects such as migrations, new feature rollouts, and process automation.
• Proactively monitor, maintain, and optimize service availability and performance.

Governance, Collaboration, and Documentation:

• Ensure adherence to internal security policies, best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Security, Network, Infrastructure teams) to resolve incidents and deliver high-quality service.
• Document SOPs, configurations, change logs, and knowledge bases for internal use.
• Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions to upskill junior team members.
