Job Description

Reporting to the Service Supervisor, in this role you will be part of a National team of Field Service Engineers providing a prompt and effective service to customers within the Water, Power, Petrochemical and other associated Industries.

In this role you will identify faults, repair, test and modify actuators in the field, carry out planned and preventative maintenance, mechanical and electrical installations of actuators and associated retrofit adaption of components, pedestals and drive shafts and completing accurate and technical site visit reports for each job.

This role would suit a determined problem-solver, who can think logically for troubleshooting issues and has the willingness to travel.

Qualifications
  • Formal Mechanical or Electrical qualifications
  • Experience post study in a practical engineering environment, preferably in a field-based role.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office user i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Required to attend training courses to attain however not limited to Confined Space, Working at Heights, and First Aid Competence. There will also be a requirement to carry out customer inductions, medicals and inoculations.
  • Able and willing to meet an extensive travel commitment. A full valid driver’s license is required.
  • Technical experience and/or relevant knowledge of valves, actuators and digital control systems
  • Good understanding of basic electronics, electrical and fluid power theories
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics and utilization of common test and calibration tools

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for Compliance & Safety, Installation/Commissioning, Maintenance/Repairs, Technical Support and Reporting.

This position reports to the Area Service Manager, Singapore and is part of the ASEAN Equipment Services Team and will be an on-site role.

What you will do:

  • Responsible in performing on-site installation, qualification, commissioning, repair and plan maintenance for Cytiva’s equipment.
  • Providing quality services as per company’s service guidelines and meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set forth in your respective team. And adhere to company health and safety guidelines.
  • Working closely with service sales in preparing proposals/recommendations to customers.
  • Timely and proper input of services performed in the company’s database (CRM)
  • Collaboration and working closely with cross functional teams (commercial, logistics, product and leadership) to enhance customer experience

Who you are:

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience preferably in the Life Sciences or Biotech industry with a strong background in engineering. Automation experience/knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and with good problem-solving skills when faced with complex issues.
  • Strong work ethics and able to maintain good rapport with customers and internal team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Other ASEAN language is a plus.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Able to travel extensively and on short notice across Singapore and ASEAN.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

You will provide suggestions for product and quality improvement proactively & understand the project technical contract service contents, identify service risks and opportunities and ensure all documentation is modified and updated as necessary, the document handling system is maintained, and the latest revisions are used for the maintenance work on site.

You will abide by the company's rules and regulations strictly, because the company arranged work should be unconditional implementation.

The Field Service Engineer - Grid Integration lead all on-site activities of a project to assure cost-effective execution of project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements during the start-up, construction and/or erection, commissioning, maintenance phases.

You will plan project on-site activities with Project Manager including necessary local resources, equipment and milestones, coordinate agreement between customer and external resources on construction targets, health and safety requirements, site organization and policy, site coordination and monitoring, responsible, from receiving the assigned site area from the customer or Project Manager to handing over to the end customer on completion day, for coordinating all on-site activities to ensure the successful execution of start-up, construction, erection, testing and commissioning activities in alignment with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements.

You will serve as a project representative by building and maintaining effective relationships with customers as well as other local organizations such as authorities, banks and suppliers to ensure their active support of field activities.

You will ensure detailed and up-to-date construction Health & Safety (HSE) plan is in place in respect of each work package, compliant with the Hitachi Energy HSE plan, ensure all on-site resources are properly trained on company health, safety and environment policy and proactively promote health and safety considerations to project partners throughout the project, empowered to suspend any activities on site in case of OHS violation and, if a situation arises, takes the necessary steps to ensure that Hitachi Energy employees and other persons who may be present are not put at risk.

You will ensure correct handling, storage and installation of Hitachi Energy-delivered equipment, coordinating on-site storage as well as shipment logistics to secure timely site delivery of equipment and material.

You will manage the sub-contractors on site hired by Hitachi Energy to ensure necessary quality and progress achieved to meet delivery date and agreed standards.

You will control project cost for the project site work, monitor actual spend against forecast and estimate final cost for the same, manage the petty cash and has delegated authority for local purchasing within agreed limits.

You will ensure all documentation is modified and updated as necessary, the document handling system is maintained, and latest revisions are used for the construction work on site.

You will ensure (with HR support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed, guide, motivate and develop direct and indirect reports within HR policies, coordinate local accommodation, site facilities, office equipment, petty cash, etc.

You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for Compliance & Safety, Installation/Commissioning, Maintenance/Repairs, Technical Support and Reporting.

This position reports to the Area Service Manager, Singapore and is part of the ASEAN Equipment Services Team and will be an on-site role.

What you will do:

  • Responsible in performing on-site installation, qualification, commissioning, repair and plan maintenance for Cytiva’s equipment.

  • Providing quality services as per company’s service guidelines and meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set forth in your respective team. And adhere to company health and safety guidelines.

  • Working closely with service sales in preparing proposals/recommendations to customers.

  • Timely and proper input of services performed in the company’s database (CRM)

  • Collaboration and working closely with cross functional teams (commercial, logistics, product and leadership) to enhance customer experience

Who you are:

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience preferably in the Life Sciences or Biotech industry with a strong background in engineering. Automation experience/knowledge is a plus.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision and with good problem-solving skills when faced with complex issues.

  • Strong work ethics and able to maintain good rapport with customers and internal team.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Other ASEAN language is a plus.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Able to travel extensively and on short notice across Singapore and ASEAN.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • 1-2 years in Life Sciences / Biotechnology Industry

Client: International Company (Valves)

Location: Ang Mo Kio
Working Hours: Mon to Fri, 8.30am to 5.30pm
Salary Range: $4000 - $5000 with transport allowance

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform remote diagnosis to fix the trouble remotely if it is possible and perform on-site support to fix troubles when the remote troubleshooting does not work well.

  2. Handle spare parts for troubleshooting

  3. Consult with HQ and Factory to obtain support when necessary.

  4. Provide timely updates to the manager on the status of field issues, whereabouts, and availability to support on-site work.

  5. Escalate the trouble to management in a timely manner when necessary.

  6. Perform follow-up and administrative activities (daily service report, trouble analysis report, 8D report, etc.) during/after the repair is completed.

  7. Prepare RGA for field return and create Failure Analysis Report (FAR).

  8. Support and assist the manager on all technical matters.

  9. Offer innovative solutions to fix troubles happening at the customer's site.

  10. Regular local travel required; regional and international travels less than 30%.

  11. Support part shipment, documentation, and packing work for field/warranty cases when needed.

  12. Assist warranty evaluation and repair tasks in the service center when time permits.

  13. Any other work-related tasks as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering is required.

  2. At least 3 years of experience in the Semiconductor or Flat Panel Display (FPD) industry.

  3. Technical competence for mechanical/electrical/software.

  4. Repair experience of mechanical assemblies, valves, or semiconductor process equipment is advantageous.

  5. Basic vacuum knowledge and industry knowledge of SEMI/FPD/PV.

  6. Customer support/field service experience is desired.

  7. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in English and preferably Mandarin to communicate with Chinese speaking customers.

  8. Able to work in teams and independently.

  9. Competent in full Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ERP systems such as MS Dynamics or SAP is an advantage.

  10. Possess good interpersonal skills, communication skills, discipline, and work attitude.

  11. Strong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Pre-commission, commission, and service static frequency converters (SFC) and variable frequency (VFD) low voltage and medium voltage drives/switchgear/transformers and power systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and supervision to customers on the installations.
  • Conduct on-site interpretation of data and technical instruction.
  • Provide management with complete and prompt information and report regarding safety & project/service status, customer or equipment problems, and failures,
  • Provide technical assistance through on-site guidance and training in proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned programs and ground support equipment.
  • Provide and assist quality team with root cause analysis and generate reports in case of equipment malfunction or failures to identify/analyse any undesirable trends.
  • Complete site documentations such as weekly safety update, installations check lists, pre-commissioning, and commissioning procedures.
  • Hands-on on-site parts replacement, testing, and verification of electrical equipment.
  • Adhere with company Health and Safety policies and work in safe and best practice manner to ensure the wellbeing of personnel and equipment are not compromised.
  • Able to interface at upper management and peers levels of the organization both internally and externally in clear and methodical manner

Qualification/Requirements

  • Electrical engineering bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • Solid understanding of Power Electronics, Electric Circuit, Electric Power Systems, Medium Voltage, Harmonics, with good hands-on skill.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers. Good literacy in at least one computer programming language.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of test instruments (recorders, power analysers, oscilloscopes, Insulation resistance, HI pot etc.)
  • Comfortable to sail on marine vessels if needed and remain offshore for defined number of days.
  • Willing to travel including distant in-country or aboard limited duration visits and with short notice in advance
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety, and risks / Hazards involved.
