What will you do?
- Lead and manage database changes through change request process & provide status reports to the relevant parties.
- Ability to manage customer in data modeling meeting and review meeting.
- Assist and respond promptly to incidents, investigate & provide temporary &/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated.
- Involvement in performance tuning, performance management, setup of Databases.
- Lead and monitor & measure the performance & availability of databases proactively; implement corrective actions identified to improve performance & availability.
- Lead and monitor the agreed service level, document & maintain the configuration of the databases; provide regular reporting to relevant parties.
- Ensure service level meets requirements. Propose and implement action plan when required. Lead and monitor databases according to standard operations procedures.
- Lead in the implementation of service continuity measures, i.e., backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuous operation of the business.
- Involve and lead in database implementation.
- Keep abreast of database technologies.

The ideal candidate should possess:
- More than 5 years of experience in installation, configuration, & management of SQL Server databases is mandatory.
- Certification in SQL server.
- More than 2 years of experience of Advanced to Expert skills in all the following:
- SQL Server Clustering & Always on Availability Group setup & management.
- Writing & debugging complex SQL statements, stored procedures & functions.
- Must be able to design & implement relational tables using the proper degree of normalization & denormalization.
- ER-Diagram Designer Tools.
- Performance Tuning.
- Proper index design & able to identify good & bad index design.
- Identify unused indexes & missing indexes.
- Identify bottlenecks in SQL Statistics, execution plans.
- Database Performance Monitoring using the following:
- Extended Events.

The DBA is also expected to support performance optimization, implement enhancements, respond to operational issues, and participate in a 24x7 standby support model to maintain uninterrupted services for a critical government platform
The DBA will manage Oracle RAC and standalone environments across Production, DR, UAT, and Development systems. The role involves ensuring high availability, disaster recovery readiness, performance tuning, patching, and compliance, while also supporting integration with storage, operating systems, and security platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations and Maintenance Activities:
- Administer Oracle RAC, standalone databases, and Oracle Grid Infrastructure.
- Perform daily health checks, space monitoring, log review, and backup validation.
- Manage Oracle databases across all environments (Production, DR, UAT, Development).
- Administer Oracle Data Guard for high availability and DR (monitor, switchover, failover).
- Monitor databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and configure alerts.
- Configure and manage Oracle AVDF (Audit Vault and Database Firewall).
- Apply quarterly security patches and version upgrades using standardized change processes.
- Perform database cloning, refreshes, object deployments, and schema changes.
- Ensure reliable backup and recovery using RMAN; conduct periodic restore tests.
- Coordinate with OS and storage teams to troubleshoot performance and capacity issues.
- Review and tune SQL queries.
Support and Coordination:
- Work closely with Infra and Application teams to ensure integration, performance, and availability.
- Participate in Change meetings, deployment planning, and DR exercises.
- Investigate and resolve incidents and problems; perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
- Collaborate with security teams for audits and enforcement of database security controls.
- Engage directly with government customer representatives to capture and deliver evolving requirements.
Consultation and Optimization:
- Propose and implement improvements to database design, indexing, and storage layout.
- Support new architecture or capacity expansion planning in consultation with stakeholders.
- Document all changes, configurations, and recovery plans as per project and audit requirements.
Requirements:
Technical Skills:
- 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in a 24x7 production environment.
- Strong experience with:
- Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters)
- Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Oracle Data Guard (configuration, monitoring, switchover/failover)
- Oracle AVDF (Audit Vault and Database Firewall)
- Oracle RMAN and ASM
- Performance tuning tools (AWR, ASH, SQL Tuning Advisor, TKPROF)
- Shell scripting and PL/SQL
- Working knowledge of SAN storage interaction with Oracle ASM and database performance.
Soft Skills:
- Strong consultative and communication skills to interact with technical teams and government stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in a high-pressure, production-critical environment.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and analytical skills.
- Certifications:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) – Database Administration (Preferred)
- ITIL Foundation Certification (Preferred)
