What You Will Be Responsible For
- Manage, monitor, and optimize NetApp storage systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Design and implement effective data backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data security and integrity.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Perl, Shell) to streamline storage management and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues, providing technical support as needed.
- Administer and optimize Red Hat systems, including configuration, performance tuning, and fault diagnosis.
- Conduct storage capacity planning, assess future storage needs, and recommend scalable expansion solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing NetApp storage systems, with proficiency in ONTAP OS.
- Strong understanding of storage network protocols (NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, FC) and related hardware.
- Hands-on experience with data backup and recovery technologies, including SnapMirror, SnapVault, and NDMP.
- Proficient in automation scripting (Python, Perl, Shell) for storage management.
- Experienced in Red Hat system administration, including command-line operations and system management tools.
- Skilled in configuring, monitoring, and optimizing NetApp storage systems for performance and reliability.

- Database server configuration standards.
- Disk partitioning (volume ID, size and purpose) and file directory structures.
- Server hardware configuration standards.
- Storage system configuration standards.
- Perform logical/physical database design/creation, changes or removal of database, provide technical consultancy/advice on the usage of database software, advice application developers on optimisation of database access codes etc.
- Improve and enforce database standards and procedures to achieve optimum database performance.
- Monitor and analyse the disk storage usage of all production databases including database objects etc. closely and alert users promptly of potential application failure due to data outgrowing the allocated space etc. to pre-empt problems
- Generate monthly reports to inform all application developers about the database utilisation of each application, for necessary actions to be taken by the latter as and when necessary.
- Perform weekly diagnosis on the databases to ensure data integrity and proper functioning of the databases.
- Perform data patching whenever required to correct any data corruption errors.
- Perform all necessary database maintenance tasks for all database related systems and applications based on industry best practices, on a quarterly basis.
- Maintenance of clustered System should be done after office hours and weekend whenever possible.
- Maintenance should be done one server after another within a cluster, in order not to impact the on-going operations, with the server to be maintained detached from the cluster during maintenance and reattached to the cluster after the maintenance.
- If the clustering service fails to trigger off the fail-over process, the fail-over process should be triggered off manually by shutting down the failed server, disconnecting it from the LAN or private network shared between the clustered servers, whichever way is appropriate.
- Backup strategy
- Backup tape inventory and movements.
- Batch jobs and scripts
- Troubleshooting of clustered servers should be done off-line with the failed server detached from the cluster or after office hour and weekend, to minimise the impact on on-going operations;
- After the fault has been rectified, the failed server shall re-join (fail-back) the cluster after office hour, as a scheduled task, to minimise the impact on on-going operations. Perform validation of the cluster resources to ensure the health of the cluster.
- Perform data migration for application owners from development/staging servers to production servers within three (3) working days upon user request.
- Run batch jobs based on a predefined schedule and user specifications.
- Monitor and ensure the successful completion of all batch jobs. If the batch jobs fail, inform the affected users immediately and take corrective actions to complete the jobs.
- Data Backup and Archiving for all System used in the Employer’s operating environment and test it to ensure data recoverability.
- Perform quarterly data recoverability tests to ensure the recoverability of all data stored on the backup media. The Employer may specify which system/servers to be included in Data recovery test. The Contractor shall document all procedures and test results, and present in monthly report
- Daily data backup & recovery and on-site & off-site backup media management services for the Employer at the Data Centre.
- Coordinate with sys admin & relevant parties to update BCP as per the requirement and perform DR drill as and when required.
