Library & Archives Solutions Pte Ltd (LAAS), incorporated in 2000, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Library Board (NLB) of Singapore.
LAAS seeks to provide solutions in library innovations to support libraries in expanding their services and improving efficiency, enhancing their capabilities and empowering libraries to adopt digital technologies to better serve their users.
We are seeking an experienced Cataloguer to join our team.
Duties and Responsibilities :
The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Catalogue print and digital collections according to cataloguing standards
- Supervising the library officer(s) in cataloguing the library collection.
- Ensuring the quality of cataloguing work through sample checks.
- Providing reports on cataloguing progress and project schedule.
- Analysing the Library's existing and heritage collections as well as cataloguing needs.
- Proposing a controlled vocabulary and taxonomy for cataloguing fields.
- Support digitisation efforts by preparing manifestos
- Covering library staff roles on an urgent and emergency basis
Requirements
- A recognised degree, preferably in Library and Information Science or a related field
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding of cataloguing standards and best practices
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to work collaboratively within a diverse and dynamic team

Civica is looking for Library Assistants who are passionate about promoting good reading habits among students in Singapore.
A day in the life.
- Ensure efficient processing and circulation of resources to students and other library patrons.
- Shelve library materials and read shelves in accordance with recognized library standards i.e., DDC for school libraries
- Catalogue and process new materials promptly to have them ready for borrowing
- Creation of promotional materials and displays to support the school curriculum and library programmes
- Conduct library programmes and activities
- Generate regular reports on loans, overdue items, fines and other collection-related statistics
- Assist library patrons with queries
- Ensure good housekeeping in the library, including tidying the library and maintaining clear and accurate shelf signages to assist patrons in locating materials.
- Follow-up with students and staff on overdue, damaged and/or lost books
- Work with the stakeholders to manage damaged and/or lost books. This includes withdrawing, repairing or reconditioning library materials.
- Stocktaking and weeding of library materials
