The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking a Laboratory Manager to manage the operations and activities of the Computer Aided Design laboratories. The candidate would be responsible for providing efficient management, technical and administrative support for all laboratory teachings and research activities and to oversee the safety standards in the laboratory in compliance to ISO 45001 standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, manage and oversee the operation of the Computer Aided Engineering laboratories and Biological Machine Lab in supporting the teaching and research activities.
Manage and allocate manpower resources within the laboratories to meet operational needs.
Budgetary planning for the laboratories and ensure procurement operations comply with the University’s financial policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Laboratory asset management and maintaining proper records for inventory auditing.
Provide teaching supports to laboratory experiments and projects.
Manage and maintain the Windows servers, engineering software application licenses and network systems.
Conduct safety risk assessment for all equipment and processes.
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical/ Mechatronics/ Manufacturing Engineering.
At least 10 years of experience in Product Design work, Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacturing and Engineering software.
Knowledge in Windows Server operating system.
Good knowledge and skill in Computer Aided Design and Engineering software such as SolidWorks, SolidCAM, Ansys and Autodesk Fusion.
Knowledge and skill in troubleshooting and resolving computer hardware and software issues.
Knowledge of lathe and milling machining and basic knowledge of CNC machine codes.
Experience in Tools Engineering and Design.
Knowledge of workplace safety including ISO45001.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in leading a group of technical staff.

We're looking for candidates with at least a bachelor's degree in BioMedical/Life Science or a related field, at least 5 years working experience in a licensed clinical laboratory and specific knowledge and hands-on experience in NGS or spatial genomics technologies – such as PacBio, Oxford Nanopore or Nanostring technologies.
The Clinical Laboratory Manager will be responsible for performing and overseeing various laboratory protocols for both clinical and non-clinical NGS and molecular projects and act as Section Lead for clinical lab licensing and accreditation in Singapore. The candidate should have experience with quality management systems, laboratory information management systems and accreditation standards such as ISO15189, ISO13485 or College of American Pathologists (CAP).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform laboratory protocols for both clinical and non-clinical projects in the laboratory
Train and manage lab staff on protocols and procedures and oversee performance
Oversee laboratory operation's compliance to regulatory requirements
Troubleshooting and optimization of protocols for maximum data quality and output.
Oversee proper operation of the implemented Quality Management System and Laboratory Information System
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring accuracy, precision, and reliability of performance.
Assist the relevant Clinical Governance Officer and Laboratory Director in the day‑to‑day technical management of the laboratory services.
Participate in all internal and external audits of the laboratory for accreditation and licensing
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, Life Science or a related field. Advanced degrees are an advantage.
At least 5 years of working experience in a licensed clinical laboratory and qualifications to act as Laboratory Manager / Section Lead for a licensed laboratory in Singapore
Knowledge of regulatory guidelines, quality management systems and/or clinical accreditation such as CAP or ISO is required.
Self-starter and team player that is comfortable working in a group and individually and strives for continuous improvement. Reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer / Lab Director.
Experience and proficiency in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques and/or spatial genomics and data analysis.
Attention to detail and ability to follow complex protocols and SOPs accurately.

Duties and Responsibilities
Lab Operations & Safety
- Manage daily lab operations and shared spaces to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

- Develop and maintain emergency response plans with the Safety Manager.
