I am currently looking for a Senior Director for Laboratory Ops APAC for one of my Global bio/pharma research MNC client. This is an exciting position within the APAC leadership team, covering the entire region and reports directly to Global.

Job: Senior Director, Laboratory Operations APAC

Position Summary

As a key member of the APAC Leadership team, the Senior Director, Laboratory Operations Asia Pacific will be responsible for developing and implementing overall laboratory operation strategy and roadmap across Singapore, Japan & China.

Based in Singapore, you will lead a large team, together with managing across a complex global organization and delivering exceptional client performance. To succeed in this role, you will have a proven track record as an agent of change in challenging environments and in fostering a confident and capable workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with the VP Global Lab Operations, in the strategic planning and management of the global laboratory network to ensure operational excellence in the delivery of testing services.
  • Has overall oversight and management of all support activities at the laboratory site to ensure consistency of management administration across all functional areas.
  • Ensures that there are adequate resources, including personnel and equipment, necessary to meet quality standards, client deadlines and productions timelines.
  • Leads the development of the site operating budget and supports and plans the capital budget development to ensure delivery of testing services.
  • Develops and monitors a consolidated operational scorecard to evaluate operational performance and effectiveness of the site in meeting defined deliverables.
  • Facilitates and supports client visits, audits and inquiries so that they can be addressed in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Ensures client satisfaction with timely communications and by building cooperative relationships between the laboratory and other functional areas.
  • Ensures global regulatory compliance.
  • Foster the culture of proactive performance management and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • M.D, PharmD or PhD with specialization in Laboratory medicine. MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience with growing leadership responsibility in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • Experience within Central Lab is a must.
  • Proven track record in leading complex scientific and laboratory teams, including direct people management and laboratory management is required.
  • Ability to closely partner with customers and clients (internal or external). Strong business acumen and ability to translate technology to potential business impact.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, networking skills, a high level of organizational ability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within the matrix organization through influencing and building relationships across organization.
  • Requires 10% travel.
