Essential responsibilities

We are looking for a Communications Deputy Director to drive our communication strategy and lead our PR/communications team to new heights. Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Communications Leadership: Assist in developing and overseeing the implementation of the company's overall communications strategy, ensuring it aligns with our business objectives and brand vision.   • Campaign Oversight & Execution: Lead the planning and execution of major PR and outreach campaigns for our clients.   • Media Relations & Reputation Management: Serve as a key media contact and spokesperson for the company. Cultivate high-level relationships with key media outlets and industry influencers. Oversee media outreach to ensure it's high-quality and targeted to the right audiences, and manage press inquiries, interviews, and public statements. You will also take the lead in managing reputational risks such as addressing any negative coverage with tact and effective communication to protect our and clients' image.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage the day-to-day operations of the communications team (including the PR/Communications Manager and any executives/interns). Mentor and coach team members, providing guidance on crafting news releases, blog posts, social media content, and other communications materials. You will supervise projects from inception to completion, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met, and advise on resource allocation and budgets for various communications projects.
  • Content Quality & Consistency: Oversee the creation of all communications content, from press releases and media kits to executive speeches and internal briefings. Edit and approve key messaging to ensure consistency in tone and alignment with our brand values. Maintain high standards of writing and storytelling across the team's output, and implement review processes (style guides, approvals) for quality control.
  • Senior Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a communications advisor to senior leadership. You will participate in high-level meetings and contribute insights on messaging and public perception on behalf of the communications team. Work closely with company directors and other departments to provide counsel on communications matters (e.g. during product launches, crises, or major marketing initiatives), ensuring our external communications support overall company goals.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Establish KPIs for communications efforts and oversee the tracking of media coverage, campaign performance, social media engagement, and other relevant metrics. Manage the production of regular reports on communications outcomes (e.g. monthly media coverage reports, social media analytics, campaign ROI). Use insights from these reports to refine strategies and demonstrate the value of communications initiatives to the company's success.
  • Growth & Business Development: Own a revenue target with leadership; forecast weekly and keep a healthy pipeline. Lead credentials and pitches; shape proposals, scopes, and fees with clear value and solid margins. Grow existing accounts through timely upsell/cross-sell ideas that solve real client needs. Market presence: drive thought leadership (panels, bylines, case studies) that generates inbound interest.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Media Studies or related field. A Master's degree is a plus but not required.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in public relations or communications, with at least a few years in a leadership or managerial role. Experience crafting strategy and managing campaigns in the lifestyle, consumer, or retail sector is highly advantageous.
  • Leadership & Strategy Skills: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute communication strategies at a high level. Strong leadership and team management skills – you have experience guiding teams, providing mentorship, and coordinating cross-functional efforts. What You'll Bring
A minimum of 10 years in communications (agency and in-house positions) and/or marketing communications experience, ideally in a Business-to-Business (B2B) industry.
Proven experience within PR, AR, as well as with other communications disciplines and marketing functions in the B2B technology industry (ideally with PR agency experience).Proven track record of developing and driving successful programs, campaigns, and thought leadership initiatives, including experience in content development within a relevant field or industry and ability to consistently deliver creative, original thinking across multiple topics.

Strategic Planning

  • Aid in the preparation of crisis communication materials at times of crisis.

Event Planning

  • Provide comms support prior to, during and after events to ensure extensive and accurate coverage of the events.
  • Work with the relevant departments to ensure organisation's reputation and image is maintained in the conduct of the event.

Strategic Partnership

  • Seek and develop new partnerships with strategic partners and enhance relationship with existing partners to enhance organisation's work and image.

Staff Development

  • Mentor the subordinates to enhance their potential and work performance.
  • Identify areas of development for the subordinates and ensure they receive at least 60 hours of training per year.
  • Ensure that subordinates' well-being is looked into.

Others

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

  • 5 – 7 years of relevant professional experience preferred.

What the role is

As Deputy Director (Marcoms), you will be part of the Corporate Communications team of the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA).

Public trust is crucial in managing current and future public health threats and this trust can be built through effective strategic, media and marketing communications. Hence this role leading the Marcoms department within the Corporate Communications division will contribute to building the mindshare of CDA as the voice of authority in communicable diseases, build up the branding of CDA locally and internationally, and educate the public on communicable diseases and preventive measures so that they can take appropriate actions to protect themselves and their communities.

What you will be working on

Job responsibilities:

  • Lead the Marcoms team in managing corporate branding and development of corporate publications and corporate collaterals
  • Drive development and implementation of social media strategy and content development, managing CDA social media channels and CDA corporate website
  • Lead the development and implementation of national public education campaigns and management of vendors for national public education marketing campaigns
  • Drive roll-out of annual national public education campaigns utilising media, digital media, and out-of-home channels
  • Drive procurement of vendors for media buying, creatives and market research for national public education campaigns
  • Track overall usage of tender contract and effectiveness of national public education campaigns in reaching CDA strategic communication objectives and campaign objectives

  • Drive corporate branding and development of corporate publications like annual report and development of corporate collaterals like corporate brochure and corporate video and corporate gifts

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 12 years experience with the government sector, healthcare institution or a medium to large organisation preferably handling social media, website, content development, marketing communications, with relevant team leader experience
