Who We Need
The Biomedical Engineer shall assist the BME manager to plan and implement a cost-effective biomedical technology management and equipment maintenance program. This person shall manage the resources, budgets, skills, equipment and consumables in an effective and efficient manner. Be responsible for the safe and smooth operation of patient care equipment deployed in the hospital.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Plan and implement a scheduled preventive maintenance program for biomedical equipment and systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, breakdown/corrective maintenance and commissioning of biomedical equipment and systems.
- Able to update and maintain the computerised database of biomedical equipment.
- Monitor the maintenance program performed by vendors.
- Management of service contract maintenance and warranty maintenance by vendors.
- Liaise with vendors, users and purchasing department on the requirements and specifications for biomedical equipment and systems.
- Supervise and lead the technical staff in managing the preventive and corrective maintenance of medical equipment.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance of medical equipment according to the schedule.
- Assist in administrative duties with respect to equipment On Loan/ Trial, commissioning and disposal of assets.
- Prepare monthly maintenance activity report.
How to Succeed
- Possesses a Degree in Biomedical/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent with minimum 3 years of work experience in medical device/electronics/healthcare industry is preferred.
- Possesses a Diploma in Biomedical/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with minimum 8 years of work experience in medical device/electronics/healthcare industry is preferred.
- Have basic knowledge of medical devices networking & cyber security requirement.
- Good knowledge in Microsoft office.
- Team player with an aptitude to learn and serve.
- Willing to work On Call / Standby Duty (roster base) after office hours, weekends and Public Holidays for any urgent need based assignment.

As a Biomedical Engineer (Dialysis Trained), you will be responsible for the following duties:

Overview of the Role:
To assist the Manager in performing planned preventive maintenance of medical equipment / inspection, commissioning of newly purchased or Loan medical equipment, to assist in technical evaluation of new equipment with vendor and user and carry out Repair and Maintenance (R&M) on biomedical equipment.

Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Preventive Maintenance: Completion of assigned Planned Preventive Maintenance work orders (both In-house and outsourced to equipment vendor) on schedule within the month. To update and close the work orders on time and upload the checklist in equipment database for the assigned work order.
• Repair and Maintenance: To respond timely for R&M work request by user, attend to job, follow up with Vendor and update user on status of the job till completion of the job.
• Commissioning: To commission newly purchased medical equipment jointly with equipment Vendor and also to commission loan equipment and upkeep of records.
• Assist hospital and BME Manager in assigned project work for co-ordination, supervising vendor and completion within schedule.
• Assist the Manager during regulatory audits such as MOH in retrieval of equipment maintenance records.
• Ensure test equipment used are calibrated.
• Assist user in condemnation of equipment and disposal.
• Other ad hoc duties assigned
Requirements:
• Degree in Bio-medical Engineering from local university or recognized equivalent qualification with one year of relevant work experience
• Three-year Polytechnic Diploma in Bio-medical Engineering or equivalent from local polytechnic with minimum 5 years of relevant work experience or
• Certificate or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering from a recognized Tertiary institution such as ITE's with minimum 10 years' hospital experience or with medical equipment vendor, preferably with biomedical engineering knowledge.
• Staff shall have necessary safety related knowledge to Bio-medical equipment.
• Staff with Hospital experience in BME or with medical device vendor in maintenance of medical equipment is highly desirable.
Working Hours:
• 8:30am to 6:00PM
• 5-day work week on rotating shifts, 42 hours maximum
