The primary objective of this role is to contribute to the development and discovery of innovative methods for addressing emerging pathogens. This entails identifying new pathogens, developing diagnostic tools, treatments, and control strategies.

As a member of the BATPROTECT team, you will work closely with Prof Wang to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying bats' exceptional longevity and resistance to viral and age-related diseases. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting all aspects of the research project
  • Conducting accurate monitoring, documenting, and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings
  • Assisting researchers in programming, data analysis, and literature review for various research projects
  • Evaluating and interpreting collected data and preparing oral presentations or written reports/scientific manuscripts/literature for publication

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. We are seeking two Research Fellows to contribute to a project focused on the collective motion of bacteria and mechanics of bacterial colonies and biofilms. It involves experiments, theory, and numerical simulations. One Research Fellow will focus on the experiments and the other theory and numerical simulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design experimental systems and perform experimental measurements.
Process experimental data analyze the results.
Implement numerical calculations to simulate collective behaviors of bacteria.
Build theoretical models to describe or explain the experimental or numerical results.
Help organize the research lab.
Help train other members of the lab, such as undergraduate students.
Job Requirements:
PhD (for Research Fellow and above equivalent) degree in biophysics, soft matter physics, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in experimental techniques such as microscopy, microfluidics, or rheology OR molecular dynamics simulation or agent-based simulation.
Competent in soft skills e.g. information visualization, oral presentation, etc.

The Experimental Marine Ecology Laboratory (EMEL) within the Department of Biological Sciences at the National University of Singapore is seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on a major new project “Multifunctional and Adaptive Green-Grey Shorelines (MAGGShore)”. This interdisciplinary research aims to test strategies to enhance the ecological functioning of artificial shorelines.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

  • Examine ecological processes on seawalls at multiple scale
  • Identify suitable species and protocols for transplantation
  • Develop and test new enhancement unit design
  • Coordinate with sister sub-project
  • Prepare research manuscripts, reports and presentation
