The key responsibilities of the successful candidate:
- Secure, establish and lead a competitive, externally funded research programme integrating oral microbiology with multi-omics approaches
- Pioneer insights into the associations between oral microbiome signatures and systemic health, develop novel prevention, diagnostics and treatment strategies
- Build upon platforms such as the Singapore Oral Multiomics Initiative (SOMI), which currently supports metagenomics, proteomics, metabolomics and epigenomics research
- Synergize and/or collaborate with existing clinical and research faculty within the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre, as well as foster new collaborations with other internationally renowned clinicians and researchers to elevate the research profile and global impact.
- Identify and pursue diverse funding opportunities to bolster research infrastructure and clinical studies at NDCS/NDRIS
- Demonstrate exceptional scholarly achievements through peer-reviewed publications, competitive grants, patents and other scholarly outputs
- Supervise, mentor and nurture PhD and Master's students, dental residents/officers, research staff and clinical investigators, to hone and develop their research skills and capabilities.
- Oversee laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols (biological, chemical, radioactive, fire safety) and regulatory standards (e.g. IBC, IACUC, SG-GCP, HAS, etc); and uphold the highest standards of laboratory safety, regulatory compliance and research integrity.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in microbiology or related fields.
