  • Conduct sampling of incoming waste.

  • Conduct laboratory analysis testing of Pre-Acceptance, Post-Acceptance, process, monitoring and adhoc samples from internal or external customers.

  • Carry out sample analysis according to standard operating procedures.

  • Perform data entry in LIMS or spreadsheets for results reporting purposes.

  • Carry out calibration and maintenance of all laboratory equipment as per schedule or instructed.

  • Ensure good housekeeping in the laboratory.

  • Follow the existing system and documentation as per the procedures.

Successful candidate will be working in the main office located at 15 Tuas View Circuit, Singapore 636968. Company transport is provided from Boon Lay MRT and Choa Chu Kang MRT.

Requirements

  • Minimum Diploma in Chemistry/Chemical engineering; applicants with professional certificate or Higher Nitec with related experience will be considered.
  • One year of working experience in petroleum or petrochemical laboratory industry preferred, entry level or applicants without relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience in handling laboratory instruments such as GC, GCMS, HPLC, FTIR, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, UV spectrophotometer or petroleum physical testing such as distillation unit, flash point tester, density meter etc.
  • Physically fit, medical condition should not interfere with laboratory analysis.
  • Able to work twelve (12) hour morning and night shifts.
  • Able to work in a team and support the Team Leader/Assistant Team Leader.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform analytical tests on incoming, intermediate and finished product catalysts according to standard test procedures and test requirements to ensure conformity to specifications before product is released to customer.
  • Perform routine analyses on effluent water according to prescribed test methods to support environmental monitoring of plant wastewater treatment system.
  • Receive, label and store samples with relevant safety & hazard information.
  • Perform verification and calibration of lab testing equipment to ensure product testing is validated.
  • Implement preventive maintenance program for lab testing equipment, ensure equipment is well maintained to minimize downtime.
  • Validate and review testing procedures and ensure procedures are updated and followed.
  • Calculate test results, and log and report all experimental data and test results accurately in accordance with ISO9001 management system.
  • Organize and store all chemical substances, reagents and compressed gases according to safety guidelines.
  • Ensure adequate supply of laboratory supplies and consumables for smooth operation of laboratory.
  • Perform regular inspection of work area for compliance to ESH requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of O Levels or equivalent and at least 3-5 years of laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of laboratory best practices.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, EXCEL, Outlook, etc.).
  • Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform standard mathematical calculations, familiar with different measurement units, ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
  • Time management skills: able to prioritize and organize work for efficiency and higher throughput.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

As a lab technician, you will follow established procedures and guidelines to prepare flavour samples and participate in flavour evaluations and testing, in order to support effective application processes, according to business goals and EH&S policies.

Main Responsibilities

Flavour Preparation & Evaluation

  • Prepare flavour samples as requested for customer briefs, application needs, technology performance assessment, QC standards, physical testing, etc.
  • Act as the main point of contact to provide timely flavour samples for other labs and functions within Givaudan
  • Maintain all required formula records and brief documentation in the company database software (Athena, Atlas, Lot Number records, etc.)
  • Maintain organized and updated stock of raw materials in the Laboratory
  • Maintain organized collection of flavours in the lab for immediate response to briefs and application requests
  • Assist in applying flavours to food products when assigned
  • Participate in the evaluation of flavours in food products and provide flavour performance feedback
  • Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment in accordance with EH&S policies and good laboratory practices

Main Requirements

  • NITEC or Diploma in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or relevant fields
  • Minimum 1-5 years experience working in a laboratory setting/environment

  • You should possess a Degree in Chemistry and/or a Diploma in Chemical Process Technology (major in Polymer Science or Material Science is a plus) with several years of experience in the Polymer Industry.
  • Experience in polymer material processing and testing will be an added advantage.
