The Centre for Advanced 2D Materials is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to work on projects focused on applying 2D materials to membranes for gas and liquid separation and purification.
This role will contribute to the long-term safety and operational readiness of the laboratories, including supporting preventive maintenance, upkeep of research tools, and assisting with basic troubleshooting of equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Work on materials synthesis and preparation for membrane fabrication.
- Work with sample preparation and characterisation, including systematic results reporting and quality control.

- Calibrate/maintain the assigned equipment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Candidates must hold an internationally recognised diploma (polytechnic), bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science/engineering or a related field. Additionally, they should have laboratory work experience as a team player with self-motivation, proactivity, intellectual curiosity, and good communication skills. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, resourceful, adaptable, and able to work independently or in a team. They should also be able to multitask and adapt to work in a high-demand environment. Hands-on experience working with experimental laboratory procedures, practical experience in handling inorganic and organic chemicals, and very good communication skills are essential. The ability to shape and drive a laboratory work agenda to deliver technical results is also crucial. Rigour, strong work discipline, motivation, and punctual reliability with the ability to meet tight deadlines are required.}

Some key components in the work are:
- Collecting different scientific use-cases of the QE code-base and understanding how to interpret its output.
- Performance analysis of QE on different HPC systems and for different use-cases
- Improving the FOTRAN frontend of DaCe, with the goal to ingest the QE codebase and compile it into a DaCe SDFG.
- Extending DaCe with transformations that optimize the QE SDFG for CPU and GPU architectures.
- Utilizing Automatic Differentiation features within DaCe to replace compute-intensive functions within QE with trained models.

Requirements:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field.
- Successful candidates have a strong background in computer science, parallel computing, compilers, performance optimization, and high-performance computer systems. Excellent knowledge of Python and C++ are required, knowledge of FORTRAN is an advantage.
- Some familiarity with DaCe is an advantage, ideally a candidate has already used DaCe to some degree and is familiar with the DaCe development model and the team behind it. Similarly, knowledge of QuantumEspresso and some of its use-cases are a big advantage.

o Liaise with researchers and agency officers to manage pre and post award processes such as processing of claims in an accurate and timely manner.
o Work closely with agency officers and key stakeholders on the management of research projects to ensure timely submission and monitoring of project milestones.
o Organise and administer briefings to agency officers or potential grant applicants for a variety of grant related activities, such as to build agency capabilities in research grant governance or to inform applicants of funding rules.
o Update on overall research programme progress at meetings with senior management.
o Draft submissions to seek approvals for key project milestones.
o Monitor funding compliance rules and update guidelines, where required.
o Prepare for audits by Auditor-General's Office (AGO), NParks Internal Audit Unit (IAU), and external auditors and follow up on audit findings and recommendations.
o Review processes and procedures and drive process transformation to improve efficiency and governance in managing R&D projects.

- Prior experience in the following areas will be an advantage:

- Possess good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- A meticulous, resourceful and self-driven team player who is able to work independently and multi-task to meet deadlines
