About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and client-focused Tax Director to play a leadership role and grow our Family Office and Private Client tax practice in Singapore. This is a leadership opportunity within a global Big 4 firm, offering the platform to work with ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs), family offices, and private investment entities across Asia and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted tax advisor to family office clients, UHNWIs, and privately held businesses on cross-border and Singapore tax matters.
- Lead client engagements involving complex wealth structuring, succession planning, asset protection, trust and estate planning, and philanthropic structures.
- Advise on the establishment and ongoing management of single and multi-family offices, including governance, compliance, and regulatory considerations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, family office advisors, trustees, legal counsel, and other intermediaries.
- Drive business development and contribute to the strategic growth of the family office tax service line in Southeast Asia.
- Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance management.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and developments impacting the family office sector, both in Singapore and globally.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including corporate tax, international tax, legal, and advisory services to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant tax advisory experience, preferably within a Big 4, law firm, or boutique private client practice.
- Proven track record advising family offices, UHNWIs, and private clients on tax planning and structuring.
- Strong technical knowledge of Singapore tax regulations and international tax principles relevant to wealth management and succession planning.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with senior stakeholders.
- Leadership experience, including managing teams and driving practice development.
- Professional qualification (e.g. CA, CPA, CTA, JD, LLM, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Experience working with clients across Asia-Pacific is a plus.
