JOB SUMMARY
Patrol the hotel as part of an overall security function, checking all areas while continuously maintaining a discreet and diplomatic presence that ensures the protection of guests, associates and hotel assets. Control and monitor access to Back Of The House areas and associates’ entrance. Input data, monitor and operate the CCTV and alarm system, if required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrol all areas of the hotel noting, recording and informing the management of all potential problems or hazards.
- Circulate amongst guests and patrons monitoring all matters pertaining to federal or state legislations as well as Marriott’s standard and local operating procedures, recording any violations.
- Keep the MOD, Assistant Director and Director of Loss Prevention informed of all incidents occurring within the hotel via properly structured written reports.
- Ensure that when required, undesirables are tactfully and effectively handled without interruptions to hotel operations or concerns to guests. They are to be approached and questioned in a non-aggressive manner. If in the event that additional assistance is needed, backup is to be called. Only to be used as a last resort and after consultation with the Director of Loss Prevention or in his absence, the Manager on Duty or a member of the Executive Committee, are to notify police to control or rectify the situation.
- To monitor and control access to Back Of The House areas by screening all visitors and associates when required.
- To issue or retrieve hotel keys / swipe cards and record their movements on a timely basis.
- Exercise the department’s system in an effective manner to log factual and concise reports including:
- Security incident report.
- Associates accident report.
- Guest incident report.
- Undesirables report.
- Visitor log.
- Associates casual locker log.
- Key issue / retrieval log.
- Maintenance work orders.
- Public areas cleaning requests.
- Participate as a member of the Hotel Emergency Respond Team in a manner and responsibility, specified in the Emergency Respond Procedures.
- To attend training in First Aid, Emergency and Fire Safety Procedures in order to effectively perform the various tasks and duties.
- Comply with all security procedures in conjunction with the local operating procedures, noting and reporting those who are in violation.
- Liaise with other departments in ways and actions that ensure an awareness of each departmental functions building on mutual understanding and respect, which would result in continual and effective security awareness.
- Immediately report all defects identified, maintenance work order.
- When appropriate, during heavy guest activities assist associates with their duties except duties of a specialized nature.
- Perform any reasonable request made by any manager or supervisor if not life threatening or illegal in nature.
- Ensure that health and safety requirements in the workplace are observed, enforced and maintained.
- Be conversant with the operating hours of the hotel, its outlets and facilities available for guest enjoyment and use appropriate opportunities to “sell” the hotel to prospective guests.
- To ensure and follow established procedures and compliance as per LSOP guidelines.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Your day to day
voco® Orchard Singapore is seeking a dynamic and passionate Security Officer to be part of this exciting rebranding project. As a Security Officer, you will perform hotel security duties and procedures to ensure the safety and security of guests, employees and the property as well as the property’s assets.
People
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include all hotel staff, Corporate Hotel Management Group and Corporate Risk Management and Legal department.
- Assist in training/educating employees on current safety and security issues to ensure compliance with all Company loss control policies and current security, and safety regulations. Inform management of hazardous situations, emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or hotel assets.
- Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs to security equipment or hotel property as needed and ensure that equipment is prepared and operational for the following day’s work.
Financial
- Record necessary and pertinent incident reports or information to police and fire agencies involving investigations and to Corporate Legal department, Corporate Claims Management department, insurance agencies and outside attorneys to assist in case evaluation, settlement or defense involving lawsuits against the Company
Guest Experience
- Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest related incidents, questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
- Investigate loss and safety incidents involving guests, employees and/or hotel loss and safety exposure and comply with state and government regulations and hotel procedures to prevent/minimize the loss from theft and other safety risk or litigation against the hotel. Such investigations may include theft or lost items, noise complaints, assault complaints, food poisoning complaints, intoxication incidents, other guest complaints and safety hazard accidents and incidents.
- May have to administer CPR on guest or staff member in accordance to guidelines and communicate specified information to EMS/medical personnel as required.
- Complete documented reports in accordance to Company and hotel polices and procedures.
Responsible Business
- Perform daily inspection and ensure compliance of hotel security and safety requirements and procedures in order to protect hotel property, employees and guests against theft, crime, threats and safety hazards. This may include and is not limited to:patrolling and inspecting with specified equipment the assigned areas to include all public areas of the property including meeting rooms, entrances and outside building and grounds; monitoring surveillance cameras and checking areas for unauthorized persons or vehicles and coordinating towing of vehicles, unlocked doors and fire and safety hazards and document all actions
maintaining the Security procedures and audit/department logs that may include lost and found, storing guests’ valuables, key control, emergency procedures, health and safety hazard procedures for all employees and guests
ensuring all guest room doors are secured and assist guest with room access and moving/removing guest possessions or inventory if required
escorting staff and guest to car if requested
inspecting purses, packages or bags of employees if designated by management and employees work identification and accuracy of employee time cards as they arrive/leave the property - Perform other duties as assigned; such as may handle deliveries received during non-business hours.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Candidates with no security experience may also apply, however experience in the hotel industry will be an advantage.
- Possess a valid PLRD License to the position of Senior Security Officer
- Able work on rotating shifts (including night shifts), weekends and Public Holidays
