As a Packaging Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, testing, and implementation of packaging solutions for product portfolio. You will ensure that all packaging meets functional, aesthetic, sustainability, and regulatory requirements while optimizing cost and efficiency throughout the supply chain.
**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: (But not limited to)**
**Design & Development**
+ Develop innovative packaging solutions for new and existing products.
+ Create detailed packaging specifications, CAD drawings, and prototypes.
+ Select appropriate materials and technologies based on product needs and sustainability goals.
**Testing & Validation**
+ Conduct performance testing (e.g., drop, vibration, compression, environmental).
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISTA, ASTM, ISO) and regulatory requirements.
+ Collaborate with quality assurance to validate packaging performance.
**Project Management**
+ Lead packaging development projects from concept to launch.
+ Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Marketing, Procurement, and Manufacturing.
+ Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
**Sustainability & Cost Optimization**
+ Identify opportunities to reduce packaging waste and improve recyclability.
+ Analyze packaging costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
**Supplier & Vendor Coordination**
+ Work with external packaging suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and components.
+ Evaluate supplier capabilities and ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.

**EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
+ 2-5 years of experience in packaging design and development.
+ Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and packaging simulation tools.
+ Knowledge of packaging materials (paperboard, plastics, corrugate, foams, etc.).
+ Familiarity with packaging regulations and testing standards.
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end packaging development and decisions from R&D till manufacturing.
- Develop concepts that are aligned with business goals and product requirements.
- Oversee and coordinate packaging development schedules from initiation to completion, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met with precision.
- Keep up to date with new material innovations and the latest trends through extensive research, collaborations and testing.
- Collaborate closely with the wider Product team and manufacturing partners to understand packaging requirements, define CMF requirements, and validate new material ideas, ensuring alignment with DFM and DFA principles.
- Support creation of product documentation and marketing assets to ensure smooth product launches. This includes (but not limited to) user manuals, assembly guides, visual/promotional assets, and other related materials.
- Conduct stakeholder reviews to present and refine packaging concepts and designs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or the equivalent.
- Experience with Industrial and Packaging Design within a related industry. Demonstrated ability to design cardboard packaging for large items is a plus.
- Proficient in 2D design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and 3D modelling software (Rhino, SolidWorks etc.).
- Strong design and manufacturing knowledge, with the ability to create visuals assets such as product renders for packaging and line illustrations for user manuals.
- Skilled in project management and able to manage multiple requests efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin (in order to liaise with Mandarin speaking suppliers).
- Ability to travel as necessary for work purposes.
