Game Designer
We’re looking for a creative and dedicated senior game designer to be an important member of the team shaping our games to satisfy our player community with a mind towards driving commercial success on a free-to-play business model.
As an important member of the team reporting to the Senior Live Producer, you need to have a mix of event design knowledge, live operational experience and event balancing in the mobile game industry. You will work with several function and design leads in creating game events and features for the FCMobile game, to achieve operational goals for each milestone that meet user needs and maintain the health of the game's economic system. You will become an important source of real-world inspiration and crucial in translating real world and hyper local soccer events into the game.
Responsibilities
You will work with Senior Live Producer to establish strategic roadmap plans for EA Sports FCMobile features & live services.
You will be a part of the feature design team understanding the what and the why, how to measure its success, and frequently communicating status.
Craft Mastery: You will work with live producers in the creation of features and events. Set the bar for excellence in game design and documentation, deliver player-first experiences with creativity. Create game design documents, event specifications and event balancing.
Football Knowledge: You will translate real-world events into live game events, which may sometimes require flexible work hours to mirror real-world calendar.
Live Service Mentality: You know how to create systems that can withstand the test of time, and keep our game interesting all year.
Innovate & Iterate: Use market insights, player feedback, your own experiences and data analytics to identify opportunities for innovation in game modes, progression, competitive and collection systems. You are expected to pitch and bring features to the team.
Partner with Production Leads: Collaborate with production leadership to ensure feature quality and scope align with development timelines and goals.
Qualifications
5+ years of professional game design & live service experience
Experience delivering priorities and timelines independently
Conceptualize real-world events into live service content
Passion with football and deep insights to football culture/community.
In-depth knowledge of the mobile free-to-play gaming market
High Proficiency in English - both verbally and written
Chinese Mandarin proficiency will be a big plus.
Ability to work with international teams with some travel required

The Challenge
We are seeking an experienced Mobile Game Designer to join our game development team. In this role, you will be responsible for game design with the objective of optimising user acquisition and retention metrics. You will be expected to implement best practices in the game development process for iterating on both new and existing content to continually ensure the game prioritises player retention over the long run. Identifying core game loops and updating systems to adhere to live ops needs.
What You Can Expect To Work On
Strategic Game Design:
Oversee the conceptualization, design, and iterative refinement of game mechanics, ensuring a balanced blend of creativity and market viability
Understand game systems and core game loops, iteration process and cross team collaboration
Introduce and implement structured problem-solving methodologies and frameworks within the design team
Project & Product Management:
Establish clear documentation standards for game design documents (GDDs), feature specifications, and other design-related materials
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including development, marketing, and monetization to align design strategies with business goals
Data-Driven Design & Analytics:
Establish and promote a data-driven design process, emphasizing the use of analytics to inform design decisions and iterate on game features
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate game design effectiveness
Analyze game data and player feedback to identify areas for improvement and optimization in game mechanics, features, and overall player experience
Implement A/B testing methodologies to validate design hypotheses and optimize game performance

Requirements
What You Need to Succeed:
Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) in game design with a track record of successfully launching games, ideally in the mobile space
Strong leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team of designers
Demonstrated expertise in creating and implementing data-driven design strategies
Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills, with experience working in a corporate environment
Deep understanding of mobile game monetization strategies, including in-app purchases, ad integrations, and other revenue models

2-3 years of experience in Unreal Engine
