We are looking to expand our stack to include: DuckDB, graph databases, data virtualisation, and containerisation.

Depending on your level of experience, you will be helping to:

  • Design, develop, deploy, administer and/or maintain (portions of) this tech stack, or solutions based off it.
  • Recommend, evaluate, adopt, integrate and/or build on new open-source and commercial tools.
  • Engage end users, data analysts, data scientists, data engineers and project managers in the planning, development and delivery of solutions.
  • Lead projects, mentor juniors, make technical decisions, and/or formulate strategies.
What We Are Looking For
  • Someone passionate about software architecture (and engineering) applied to the domain of data science and analytics.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to join our progressive data team. This role involves designing and managing our data architecture to support our growing needs for robust, scalable, and secure data operations. As a Data Architect at OKX, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our data infrastructure, focusing on optimizing data flow and storage for real-time and batch-processing data systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

Design and establish data architectures using AWS EMR, Hive, S3, and PySpark.

  • Implement and develop upon open source tools like airflow and open metadata
  • Design and develop aws scripts or tools to make data dev experience better
  • Implement and manage data solutions in Alibaba Cloud MaxCompute for enhanced data processing and analytics capabilities.
  • Leverage Alibaba Cloud PAI for the deployment of advanced machine learning models and analytics.
  • Develop, maintain, and scale data pipelines while ensuring architectural coherence across multiple data initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure that the data architecture supports data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  • Promote data governance and security best practices throughout the organization.
  • Optimize data retrieval processes and create dashboard visualizations to aid strategic decision-making.
  • Address and resolve data-related technical issues, optimizing system performance.


What We Look For In You

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a data architect role, ideally within fintech or a crypto exchange environment.
  • Expert knowledge of AWS services including EMR, Hive, and S3.
  • Proficiency in PySpark and Python; knowledge of Java and GoLang is advantageous.
  • Strong familiarity with Alibaba Cloud MaxCompute and PAI.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data architecture principles, ETL processes, and big data technologies.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and capability to perform in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
