Purpose of the role
Subject matter expert in technical underwriting, particularly in the space of large sum assured applications and preliminary underwriting enquiries.
Key Responsibilties
- Underwrite life, health, and high net worth insurance applications in accordance with Singlife’s philosophy, risk culture and guidelines.
- Work with Actuary, Distribution, Reinsurers, and other parties in handling of large sum assured applications or when facultative arrangement is required.
- Maintain high level of service quality for a positive customer experience and achieve Net Promoter Score. Provide any necessary support to Distribution channels and maintain positive relationship with partner firms.
- Perform underwriting risk assessment on non-disclosure, post-claims underwriting, reinstatement, review of substandard terms and additional of riders on in forced policies.
- Coach and develop fellow underwriters and relevant team members in technical underwriting and other relevant skillsets for lateral development and improving servicing quality.
- Support ad hoc projects and tasks in relation to strengthen underwriting quality control, governance, customer experience, efficiency gain & automation etc
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and risk management controls, corporate policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
Key Decision within the Role
Provide underwriting outcome on applications and policies within your authority limits.
Team
May lead 1-2 junior underwriters.
Requirements:
- Minimally 5 years of life and health underwriting experience with underwriting authority limit of S$2Mil. Preferably with experience in high net worth segment.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, analytics & problem-solving skills. Adopt human-centered mindset prioritizing superior customer experience in the course of work.
- Flexible and agile in adapting to constant changes in a dynamic environment, provide direction in steering product squad and prioritization to align with the latest changes.
- Good understanding of the regulatory aspects of life, health and investment linked insurance industry.

Overall responsibility of the Role:
To provide administrative support for the underwriting team in providing a liability solution to cover the operational needs of the Members.
Role Responsibilities:
To provide a high level of service to Members through the prompt and accurate preparation of Members' documentation, highlighting any service issues upwards.
To fully adhere to the Underwriting Procedures Manual and all processes therein.
To advise account handler of outstanding premium position before documentation is produced and released in accordance with Underwriting Procedures Manual.
To develop and maintain good working relationships at peer level within Brokers.
To deal with queries by telephone/letter/email from external parties and ensure prompt resolution.
To ensure that service levels are maintained during the absence of colleagues, answering basic queries and referring upwards the need for any technical response.
To participate in training sessions to develop the skills and knowledge required for the effective performance of the role.
To ensure sanctions screening has been undertaken on Members, other named parties and all vessels, and any hits resolved, prior to binding cover or processing MTA's.
To complete a minimum 15 hours Continuous Professional Development annually.
Role Specific Technical Skills and Knowledge/Qualifications
Knowledge
· Basic understanding of the Club's Vision, Strategy, aims, objectives, structure and finances.
· Basic knowledge of the Rules of the Association, Plain Language Policies and additional covers and understanding of their structures.
