Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage APEX's clearing risks effectively and comprehensively in line with approved Risk policies.

Requirements:

Commercial Rating and Underwriting (CRU) is the institutional credit risk management function within American Express. The CRU team plays the critical role of assessing and managing the risk of institutional exposures across all business units within American Express, and in all regions globally. Credit exposures are primarily generated through corporate and small business card programs, via merchant service relationships where non-delivery risk exists, and among the securities portfolio held for firm-wide liquidity.

**Job Responsibilities**
Managers in CRU are responsible for rating and underwriting credit exposures in their assigned region, industry, and business line. This position will cover Greater China market. Fundamental analysis incorporates a thorough review of business, financial, industry and country risk coupled with support from internal and external rating model outputs. Assessment includes understanding of the need for credit extension, profitability of the relationship and program structures. CRU manager interact with various constituents across the firm including Hong Kong front office sales, business unit risk partners, and credit administration to perform their critical role. In addition, this position also provides rating advisory and oversight to our subsidiary in China.
**Desired Skills**
+ Ability to read Chinese financial statement as this role covers the Greater China market.
+ Expertise as a credit and underwriting decision maker, dealing with commercial exposures ranging from SME or middle-market to large, multinational institutions
+ Experience in determining appropriate credit capacity, structuring of facilities, and risk mitigation techniques

What you will be working on
Under the Risk Management Department (RMD), you will be part of the Enterprise Risk Management team, responsible for managing the risk in the organisation. The team plays a vital role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating various risks that could impact the organisation's operations and our members' interests.
For this role, you will be working closely with the team on two key initiatives to enhance our risk monitoring capabilities: developing a systematic approach to track organisational risks, and strengthening our environmental scanning for emerging risks. You will contribute to enhancing our dynamic risk sensing model for horizon scanning, and to developing a risk register to help officers effectively monitor and report on key organisational risks.
In this role, you will:
• Support the development and refinement of business requirements for a risk register, including gathering user feedback.
• Prepare test scenarios and conduct user testing to ensure the risk register meets business needs.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging risks through horizon scanning, and analyse potential impacts of emerging risks on the organisation.
• Contribute to the development of early warning systems for risk sensing.
