What the role is

You develop and implement strategic thrusts that result in the advancement of data exploitation in MINDEF.

What you will be working on

  • Guide business domains (e.g. HR, NS, Corporate & Finance) in mapping out domain-level data strategies
  • Promote the use of data as an integral part of business
  • Provide enablers and remove impediments for domains in advancing data use
  • Partner with Data Scientists and relevant specialists (e.g. design thinkers) to provide consultancy to domains
  • Track and report the success of the overall data strategy to senior management and Whole-of-Government (WoG)

  • Understanding diverse business needs across various domains
  • Engaging multiple stakeholders to emphasise the importance of data quality and sharing within the organisation

What we are looking for

  • Education in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Technology or a related field
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Prior experience in policy/plans work, stakeholder engagement, and business analytics is advantageous

As a Principal Manager/Senior Manager/Manager in the Compliance Strategy and Analytics team, you will work on a wide-ranging data set to develop and implement strategies and programmes to detect and deter work pass fraud so as to safeguard the integrity of the work pass framework.

What you will be working on


• Leverage appropriate data analytics, design thinking and behavioural insights tools to understand and identify fraudulent manpower practices, emerging risks and vulnerabilities in the work pass framework to ensure policy and business outcomes are effectively met

• Propose and implement agile and robust measures to address identified gaps and risks to ensure continued relevancy and effectiveness of policies and processes

• Develop data visualisation products, such as customised dashboards and reports that serve varying needs of multiple end-users

• Work with stakeholders and partners to frame and identify feasible data analytics solutions, specific analytics solutions, and deploy for implementation, with a view to continuously review and enhance prevailing controls and checks

What we are looking for


• Possess relevant experience in data analysis and visualisation, preferably in excel, Python, R, Macros, Tableau, Power BI

• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Have good verbal and written communication skills

• Good team player with a customer-focused mindset

• Be able to work independently and adapt to complex changes

What the role is

Project title: Bringing data to life with visualization.
Project Overview: The department conducts many surveys throughout the year to collect key labour market indicators. With the large amount of data collected via surveys, there is a need for effective data validation and consistency checks to ensure a certain level of data quality.

What you will be working on

The interns will assist with python code streamlining, survey data exploration, alternative data source exploration and maintenance of dashboards for MRSD's statistical releases and analysis.
