This position uses import/export regulations to classify products and determines elgibility for various regulatory programs involved in international imports and exports. This position serves as a liaison between UPS and government entities, resolving issues related to customs declarations, shipping restrictions, and tax payments.
Responsibilities:
Substantiates classification decisions using General Rules of Interpretation (GROI), Explanatory Notes, CROSS (Customs Rulings Online Search System) and other resources.
Engages in Country of Origin verification projects, contact suppliers to obtain correct Country of Origin for customers' products.
Manages and organizes product databases and classification information in Excel and Access.
Enters product classifications and substantiation into proprietary operating system.
Communicates proactively with customers including educating customers on regulatory procedures
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection Regulations

The Trade Compliance Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in support of the APAC Trade Compliance Manager and Global Trade Compliance Team. The Trade Compliance Specialist will report to the Global Export Compliance Senior Manager and APAC Trade Compliance Manager to lead, manage, and address export compliance activities within the APAC region. The Trade Compliance Specialist will work with local 3M business contacts and compliance teams to implement Global Trade Compliance Standards with a specialized focus on export controls and sanctions compliance.
Role & Responsibility
- Maintain applicable government authorizations and registrations.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) regarding export control and related regulations.
- Provide guidance to resolve concerns with business partners, destinations, or end uses.
- Provide guidance to resolve complex export control classification (including NTI/NPI programs) or licensing determinations.
- Coordinate efforts to secure technology licenses for employees.
- Lead cross-functional efforts related to establishing export control policy, positions, and global standards.
- Contribute to the content development for export control training.
- Apply functional expertise and project leadership on major initiatives involving exports and compliance with export control, sanctions, and related trade regulations.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree or above .
- At least three (3) years of in-depth knowledge and experience with U.S., EU, and other international export control and sanctions regulations, including experience liaising with relevant government authorities.
- Experience working with multinational companies with complex supply chains handling economic sanctions and export controls compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel functionality, experienced PowerPoint user)
- Fluent in English and Chinese.
