The Green Building & Energy /Solar Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing solar energy systems and other renewable energy solutions. This role involves conducting technical assessments, preparing feasibility studies, managing installation projects, and ensuring compliance with sustainability standards and regulations. The engineer will also provide expertise on energy efficiency initiatives, performance monitoring, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Engineering: Design solar PV systems (rooftop, ground-mounted, hybrid, off-grid, on-grid) including electrical, structural, and mechanical components. Perform energy yield simulations and financial analysis using tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or HOMER. Develop system layouts, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Feasibility & Site Assessment: Conduct site visits, shading analysis, and structural evaluations. Assess solar potential, energy consumption patterns, and load profiles. Prepare feasibility reports and ROI projections.
- Project Execution & Management: Support procurement of solar modules, inverters, batteries, and balance-of-system equipment. Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, and stakeholders during installation. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety standards.
- Operations & Maintenance: Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance for solar systems. Recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Identify and implement energy-saving measures across facilities. Support net-zero, carbon reduction, and ESG initiatives. Provide technical input for sustainability reporting and certification programs.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in solar PV design, installation, or energy engineering.
- Proficiency with solar design software (PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, HOMER, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, grid connection requirements, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with energy storage, hybrid systems, and smart grid technologies is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience with utility-scale solar projects or microgrids.
- Knowledge of green building standards (LEED, BREEAM, Green Mark).
- Familiarity with AI/IoT solutions for energy monitoring and predictive maintenance.
