We are looking for a versatile professional to bridge AI innovation with client engagement. This role combines presales activities such as understanding customer challenges, developing proposals, and showcasing AI capabilities, together with the technical expertise to drive prototyping of AI-driven solutions with the AI team.
The ideal candidate must be technically competent while equally comfortable presenting to senior business stakeholders and building hands-on prototypes with modern AI frameworks. This is a strategic role that directly influences client adoption while shaping the early design of scalable AI solutions.
Responsibilities
AI Prototyping & Exploration
- Solution Design & Ideation: Translate client problem statements into technical hypotheses and conceptual AI architectures. Identify opportunities for applying LLMs, RAG pipelines, and multi-agent frameworks to specific business needs.
- Rapid Prototyping: Be able to work with AI team to build proof-of-concepts and demos using state-of-the-art external (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, vector databases) and in house frameworks. Showcase functionality quickly to validate business value and feasibility.
- Experimentation & Benchmarking: Evaluate different LLMs (GPT, Claude, Llama, Mistral, etc.) and architectures for accuracy, latency, scalability, and cost efficiency. Conduct A/B testing and fine-tuning to optimize results.
- Data Handling & Integration: Design lightweight data pipelines for ingestion, preprocessing, and embedding generation. Work with structured and unstructured data sources to enable retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and knowledge mining.
- Workflow Engineering: Develop agentic workflows that combine reasoning, retrieval, and tool usage. Prototype orchestration layers for decision-making tasks, simulations, or automation of multi-step processes.
- Evaluation & Governance: Define metrics and perform validation on prototype outputs for reliability, robustness, and alignment with responsible AI practices (bias, explainability, transparency).
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Capture design decisions, experiment results, and prototype architecture. Provide clear technical documentation for internal stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Transition to Delivery: Collaborate with engineering and product teams to convert successful prototypes into scalable solutions ready for production deployment. Provide presales technical handover to ensure client expectations are met.
Presales & Client Engagement
- Engage with potential clients to uncover pain points and translate them into AI use cases.
- Lead discovery sessions and solution workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop proposals, pitch decks, and demos that highlight business value through Generative AI.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Business, or related fields.
- Strong technical grounding in LLMs, NLP, and Generative AI. Experience with RAG, agentic workflows, and open-source AI frameworks preferred.
- Proven experience in client-facing roles such as presales, solution consulting, or technical evangelism.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex AI concepts into business value propositions.
- Proficiency in Python and modern AI prototyping tools (LangChain, Hugging Face, vector databases such as FAISS/Chroma/Weaviate).

What the role is
The Deputy Director of AI Solutions & Design holds a critical position in establishing strategic partnerships with stakeholders across all MHA Home Team Departments (HTDs) and Statutory Boards at a senior level.

What you will be working on

Lead end-to-end client engagements to design, deliver, and transition production-grade AI agent systems. You'll translate ambiguous business needs into concrete roadmaps, assemble and lead the delivery team, and hand over a stable operation to appointed team leads before rotating to the next engagement. Clients will include both large institutions and blockchain-native companies, so interest in decentralized systems and emerging fintech is a plus. You combine deep, pragmatic LLM expertise with product sense and cost discipline.
What you'll do
- Client discovery & scoping: Run workshops to clarify goals, workflows, constraints, and success metrics; define MVP vs. phase-2 scope and acceptance criteria.
- Solution architecture: Choose the right approach (RAG vs. fine-tune vs. instruct-only; single- vs. multi-agent; orchestration strategies) with a clear rationale and risk plan.
- Reliability by design: Establish evals, guardrails, and observability (structured outputs, deterministic fallbacks, human-in-the-loop).
- Cost & performance modeling: Build token/latency/TCO models for training and inference; plan capacity, caching, and vendor/infra trade-offs to hit SLA and budget.
- Team formation: Stand up the delivery squad (LLM/ML engineers, backend, data, UX, PM), appoint durable team leads for ongoing run-state.
- Delivery leadership: Drive execution across POC pilot production; keep stakeholders aligned with clear communication and artifacts.
- Training strategy: Decide when/if to train models (LoRA, fine-tune, distillation) vs. using existing foundation models.
- Governance & compliance: Integrate data governance, security, and version control into system design.
- Transition & handover: Execute structured Build–Operate–Transfer: runbooks, documentation, dashboards, and knowledge transfer.
- Commercials & pre-sales: Contribute to proposals, estimates, and ROI cases; present to executive and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
- Strong background in project management and systems architecture (5+ years total across both, not necessarily in AI).
- Proven track record leading cross-functional technical teams from scoping through delivery.
- Exposure to building or integrating AI/ML or data-intensive systems, ideally including LLM-based products.
- Familiarity with the LLM landscape: prompt/program design, tool use/function calling, retrieval strategies, eval methodologies, and guardrails.
- Understanding of model training options (instruction-tuning, LoRA/adapters, preference optimization) and when training is justified.
- Financial/ops acumen: able to build TCO models and capacity plans; comfortable with cloud/infra vendor trade-offs.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills.
Nice to have
- Hands-on familiarity with AI/LLM tools (LangChain, LlamaIndex, vector DBs, OpenAI/Anthropic/Mistral APIs).
- Experience with enterprise integrations (Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP, etc.).
- Interest in blockchain systems and Web3 infrastructure, ideally with exposure to smart contracts, dApps, or decentralized governance.

As an AI/ML Specialist Solutions Architect (SA), you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective AI/ML, Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions that leverage AWS services. Working at the intersection of innovation and enterprise requirements, you'll architect production-grade solutions that are reliable, well-governed, and compliant with industry standards. Your expertise will be crucial in helping organizations build responsible AI practices, from traditional ML to advanced Generative AI and Agentic AI systems, while implementing robust governance frameworks and secure AI pipelines that scale efficiently.
Part of the Data and AI Specialist Solutions Architecture team, you will guide customers through their AI transformation journey, working closely with other Specialist SAs in Big Data, Databases and Analytics, Storage, Containers, Accelerated Compute and Business Development teams. You'll help customers establish scalable MLOps practices and create sustainable, enterprise-grade AI architectures that deliver measurable business value. Your role includes developing technical content, reference implementations, and presentations to enable customers, partners, and ISVs to fully leverage AI/ML and Generative AI on AWS. Additionally, you will create field enablement materials to help the broader SA population understand and integrate AWS AI/ML and Generative AI solutions into customer architectures.
You must have deep technical experience across the AI spectrum - from traditional ML and deep learning to Generative AI and Agentic AI - backed by a strong mathematics and statistics foundation. This includes hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), foundation models, and autonomous agent frameworks, alongside expertise in implementing RAG systems, designing prompt engineering frameworks, and developing multi-agent systems. You should be proficient with both commercial and open-source technologies, including popular frameworks like LangChain, Hugging Face, and PyTorch, as well as vector databases and embedding models. Your comprehensive understanding of the AI/ML ecosystem, including leading vendors, emerging startups, and key open-source projects, will be crucial in helping AWS customers create robust ML pipelines, establish effective MLOps practices, and build future-proof AI architectures.
Candidates must have great communication skills and be very technical, with the ability to engage AWS customers at any level, from executives to developers. Previous experience with AWS is desired but not required, provided you have experience building large scale solutions. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- 5+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
