Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Tests (WQT) in accordance with applicable codes (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ISO, ABS, DNV).
- Provide technical support in selection of welding processes, consumables, and equipment suitable for marine applications (e.g., SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW).
- Ensure welding consumables are stored and used as per manufacturer's recommendations and project requirements.
- Perform or oversee welding inspections, including visual inspection, NDT, and dimensional checks.
- Ensure compliance with shipyard QA/QC plans and ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans).
- Review and verify fabrication records, weld maps, and inspection reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain detailed welding records and generate reports for internal QA, clients, and classification societies.
- Ensure compliance with classification societies such as ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register, BV, etc.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to welding activities and certifications.
- Coordinate with production, design, and planning departments to resolve welding-related issues.
- Serve as the main point of contact for client representatives and third-party inspectors related to welding QA/QC.
- Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions for welding defects and non-conformities.
- Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.
- Ensure compliance to relevant government regulations and company's quality, safety, health and environmental (QSHE) policies, practices and procedures at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or relevant field of international certification (e.g. AWS-CWI or CSWIP 3.1/3.2 WI).
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience in welding QA/QC, preferably in a marine shipbuilding environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of international welding codes and standards.
- Strong knowledge of welding metallurgy, defect analysis, and NDT techniques.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, welding symbols, and isometric plans.
- A team player with the ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Good communication skills, meticulous, resourceful, able to multi-task
- Computer literary (MS. Office).

- Familiarity in fabrication of offshore structures, platforms & Piping and installation
- Familiarity with offshore standards and requirements (ABS, DNV, BV, LR etc)
Skills:
- Strong knowledge on Welding repair work on Ship, vessel and oil rigs.
- Strong Knowledge on QA/QC.
- Strong knowledge of metallurgy and weldability of various materials.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of quality control, NDT methods, and inspection techniques.
- Knowledge to perform load test/pull test as per class requirements.
- Knowledge in painting/coating process and inspections.
Work Environment:
- Combination of shop floor and on-board vessel environment.
- May require occasional travel to job sites or suppliers.
