We are seeking a skilled Welding Inspector to join our team. As a Welding Inspector, you will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating welding procedure specifications and inspection requirements prior to commencing work.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Supervising the control and inspection of welding processes to ensure compliance with established standards and project specifications.
• Verifying the correct usage of welding parameters, pre-heating, and inter-pass temperature as per welding procedure specifications.
• Conducting inspections of piping or structural welds in accordance with required standards and project specifications.

You will also be responsible for recording welding inspection results, preparing inspection reports, troubleshooting welding defects, and executing corrective actions.

In addition to these core duties, you may be required to:

• Review material/weld traceability records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Inspect materials and welding consumables to verify their suitability for use.
• Complete other ad-hoc tasks assigned by management as required.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

• Relevant recognised certifications, such as AWS CWI or CSWIP, or equivalent.
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in relevant job scope.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Experience with welding inspection techniques.

Job Description

• Build and maintain a network with customers of welding consumables in the Singapore region.
• Visit users daily in Singapore (e.g., shipyards, distributors) involved in welding to assess their satisfaction levels with the equipment and identify areas for improvement or dissatisfaction.
• Listen to users' requests and provide suitable advice on the use of welding materials.
• Make business trips to Malaysia upon customers' requests for technical support.
• Plan and organize branding and promotional activities for the company’s products in the covered area, including conducting seminars, demonstrations, roadshows, exhibitions, etc
• Engage in discussions with companies involved in extracting structures used in oil and gas exploration from the seabed.
• Provide technical services related to welding materials.
• Respond to engineers' inquiries to confirm the specifications of welding consumables.

Requirements:

• Valid Class 3 Driving License to drive a company car
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be preferred
• Technical knowledge and several years of engineering experience
• A solid understanding of welding processes and consumables
• Experience working in a technical sales and marketing industry
• Strong communication skills and high levels of enthusiasm
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, qualify, and submit Welding Procedures per applicable codes, standards, and project requirements for client and third-party approval.
• Supervise welding teams (supervisors, inspectors, foremen, welders) to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
• Review material certifications, welding consumables, and maintain Welding Procedures records project-wise.

• Monitor welder performance, rejection rates, and conduct root cause analysis failures.

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related vocational education
• Min 5 years’ experience in welding works and as Welding Engineer is preferred
• Possess certificate of AWS Certified Welding inspector (CWI) / CSWIP 3.2 is preferred

OR ISO welding cert like International Welding Specialist (IWS)

• Knowledge in codes ie ASME/AWS D1.1/ BS EN and ISO standard
• Knowledge in various welding process is a MUST
• Experience in Non-Destructive Testing is advantageous
