Job DescriptionOperational Risk Management is responsible for identifying, measuring, controlling, and monitoring operational risk, and providing early warning of risk indicators. Limits exposure due to human error, unsupervised trading, transaction processing failure, external events, information systems threats, data integrity, and fraud. The Risk Management function is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk. May include establishing risk management procedures and processes to ensure adherence to policies.
- Provide Second Line advisory, review and challenge to Business and Support Units (BU/SUs) in their management of operational risks through various operational risk programmes.
- Continuous review and enhancement of Operational Risk Incident Reporting Programme and Data Leakage Incident Management processes including (i) the maintenance of relevant policies/ procedures, (ii) supporting the implementation and testing of system changes in the bank-wide Governance, Risk and Compliance system for better control oversight and user experience
- Provide risk advisory on data leakage prevention and incident management and work with the relevant stakeholders on the continuous education efforts to promote greater operational risk management awareness
- Drive data analysis, data quality review of operational risk incidents and monthly reconciliation of records
- Prepare monthly reporting of operational risk issues and landscape for reporting to the various management committees
- Prepare operational risk related reports as part of regulatory submission
- Lead or participate in projects as assigned from time to time (e.g. risk data analytics)
- At least 10 years of operational risk management, quality assurance or other risk control-related function experience from the banking industry.
- Experienced in internal and external stakeholder management.
- Familiarity with data analytics/visualization tools e.g. Power BI, Qliksense and Excel macros.
- Degree holder or its equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Self-starter, with initiative and self-drive to achieve good quality work.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong team player and collaborator to achieve the agreed team objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage a variety of stakeholders within the Bank.
- Ability to articulate analysis/ concepts effectively through reports and presentations
- Highly flexible and adaptive to be able to manage varying exigencies at work.

- Design corporate-wide operational risk policies that is aligned to market practices and ensuring the consistent interpretation and implementation of these policies
- Drive the development of operational risk tools to identify and address control weakness and/ or gaps
- Provide independent review and challenge of operational risk self-assessments and root cause analysis for operational risk events
- Partner the process owners in the design and review of their processes to strengthen their control environment
- Proactively identify risk areas to perform deep dive analysis or thematic reviews on the specific processes
- Participate in new product assessments and ensure that operational risk considerations have been adequately assessed
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- A good Degree in Finance, Business, Accountancy or related fields of study
- Preferably 10 to 15 years of relevant working experience in the financial services industry
- Strong analytical skills with in-depth knowledge of operational risk tools and best practices as well as good understanding of operational processes, risks and controls in the financial services industry
- Strong abilities in embracing change, communicating the need for change, and applying forward thinking in initiating process improvements and transformation
- Excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills with ability to work cross-functionally, across different business areas and seniority level, and to synthesise detailed information
- Additional qualifications such as CFA, FRM and CPA will be favourably considered

Risk and Performance Management Department
The Risk and Performance Management Department is responsible for the independent assessment, measurement, management, monitoring and reporting of GIC’s market, credit and operational risk profiles.
Operational Risk & Monitoring
The Operational Risk Management team is responsible for driving and managing the corporate operational risk management program within GIC. Operational risk tools and analytics are developed to better inform management about the operational risk landscape. We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join the Operational Risk Management team as a Vice President/Senior Vice President on a 1-year contract.
What impact can you make in this role?
You will be part of a team that is responsible for the independent assessment, measurement, management, monitoring and reporting of GIC’s operational risk profiles.
What will you do in the Operational Risk Management team?
Design corporate-wide operational risk policies that is aligned to market practices and ensuring the consistent interpretation and implementation of these policies
Drive the development of operational risk tools to identify and address control weakness and/ or gaps
Provide independent review and challenge of operational risk self-assessments and root cause analysis for operational risk events
Partner the process owners in the design and review of their processes to strengthen their control environment
Proactively identify risk areas to perform deep dive analysis or thematic reviews on the specific processes
Participate in new product assessments and ensure that operational risk considerations have been adequately assessed
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
A good Degree in Finance, Business, Accountancy or related fields of study
Preferably 10 to 15 years of relevant working experience in the financial services industry
Strong analytical skills with in-depth knowledge of operational risk tools and best practices as well as good understanding of operational processes, risks and controls in the financial services industry
Strong abilities in embracing change, communicating the need for change, and applying forward thinking in initiating process improvements and transformation

Overview
Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, we are currently looking for a risk professional with CCP Clearing Risk and modelling experience to join the Risk Management Department.
Responsibilities- Manage APEX's clearing risks effectively and comprehensively in line with approved Risk policies.
- Review and update risk policies and procedures to align with IOSCO-PFMI guidelines, regulatory requirements, and directives from the Board Risk Committees.
- Maintain and improve appropriate risk models such as margining, collateral, and stress testing for APEX, which is the key responsibility for this role.
- Identify opportunities and/or gaps to enhance data quality and existing reporting processes.
- Conduct day shift and night shift duties regarding clearing risk management as per required.
- Handle end-of-day stress test reports, back test reports, liquidity risk reports, bank counterparty and Guaranty Fund reports, etc.
- Review and test APEX’s contingency plans, including default management and recovery plans, to ensure smooth operability.
- Conduct credit scoring to rate APEX’s members and counterparties.
- Conduct regular risk reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Execute enterprise risk management tasks as arranged by the Chief Risk Officer.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Risk Officer from time to time.
- University degree or above with at least 5 years of experience managing the risks of a clearing house or future brokerage, or equivalent experience.
- Good understanding of financial products such as futures and options.
- Strong knowledge of margining, risk models and methodologies.
- Strong quantitative skills, preferably with working knowledge of programming languages / software such as Excel, Python and VBA.
- Motivated and able to produce quality work under pressure.
- Strong analytical ability to analyze risk related issues and deal with complexity and ambiguity.
- Strong communicator with oral, written and presentation abilities in English and Mandarin.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, positive team player.
- Professional qualifications like CFA, FRM will be considered favorably.
