Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Interface with Design Engineering team for the release of new products (NPI) into Manufacturing
- Involve in product development and evaluate the design for manufacturability and reliability by participating in design reviews and the assembly of the prototype units
- Need to understand overall system operation, system integration, system calibrations and need to do preventive and corrective maintenance on Equipment/Machine
- Apply 7-step trouble-shooting, including driving learning and standardization where appropriate.
- Drive continuous improvement of system hardware, diagnostics and software, tooling, technical documentation and knowledge management to minimize Cycle time/Quality issues.
- Creating ECO (Engineering Change Orders), Structuring BOMs and creating test and assembly documentation as needed
- Work with suppliers to resolve component/yield/part problems in a timely manner and assist purchasing teams in driving supplier quality improvements and cost reductions efforts.
- Perform First Article qualifications for parts and EOL components.
- Provide fly and fix support on field escalations for analysis/resolution on any issue requiring in-depth knowledge on the product.
- Systematically analyze Technical issues and Infant Mortality issues and come up with proposal and concepts to Standardize.
- Provide strong technical support to production team to resolve issues and ensure on time shipment.
- Use lean manufacturing and six sigma processes
- Generate and Maintain process and equipment work instructions, drawings, and other production document to conform to specifications
Requirements:
- Master's/Bachelor's Degree in Systems/Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering with 1 or more years of experience in manufacturing.
- Entry level candidates with good academic record are welcomed.
- Understand the working principle of complex electro-mechanical assemblies on a high precision defect inspection equipment and how they relate to system performance.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to support technical issues. Set-up experiments, and perform data analysis.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to become part of a world class engineering team to lead the Electrical design of our Data Centers across our rapidly expanding Asia Pacific (APAC) portfolio.

Key job responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Lead Data center electrical designs in collaboration with other disciplines to create a coordinated construction document set
- Participate in site selection reviews and work with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements
- Critical Data Center equipment design including site-wide MV infrastructure, Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Switchgear, Transformers and Earthing
- Creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate electrical equipment
- Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with IEC requirements, the various APAC wide design codes and other jurisdictional requirements
- Review and approval of equipment submittals and ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases
- Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems
- Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup as needed

Basic Qualifications
- Degree in an Electrical Engineering field and 3+ years directly related to data center or mission critical facility design
- Comprehensive understanding of the various code requirements across the APAC region
- Fundamental understanding of critical MV and LV electrical equipment
- Detailed understanding of MV system modelling, relays, protections schemes, circuit breakers, power and distribution transformers electrical switchgear, grounding and earthing
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous consultant negotiation and management skills associated with design, construction and project execution
- Experience with fast track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects
- Experience with large scale technical operations or large-scale compute farms and knowledge of building codes and regulations
- Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities and to carry new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/construction
- The ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and present the justification to management in a high level review

The AV Integrations & Deployments (AVID) team builds the integration services, operational tools, and fleet management portal that connect Grab with a diverse fleet of autonomous vehicles. From developing APIs and large-scale telemetry ingestion to real-time fleet monitoring, safety workflows, and depot operations, we ensure that AV technologies from multiple partners can be deployed safely, reliably, and at scale across our ecosystem.
Our mission is to make Grab the indispensable operating partner for AV fleets in Southeast Asia, building the platform and guide that defines how hybrid human and robot fleets operate in the region.
Get to Know the Role
As Head of Engineering, you will set the technical direction that enables Grab to integrate and scale autonomous vehicle fleets safely and reliably across Southeast Asia. You will lead a world-class engineering team, act as Grab's technical counterpart to global AV partners, and ensure that our fleet operations technology becomes the standard for hybrid human-robot fleets in the region.
You will report to the Head of Engineering, Autonomous Vehicle.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
Architect the AV integration platform:
Define and deliver the standardised APIs, fleet management tools, and partner dashboards that allow any AV provider to plug into Grab. This platform will be the foundation for scaling a multi-partner fleet across Southeast Asia.
Build world-class fleet operations technology:
Develop systems for real-time fleet monitoring, telemetry ingestion and depot workflows. Your goal is to maximise vehicle uptime, ensure passenger safety, and set new industry benchmarks for reliability.
Institutionalize safety and reliability gates:
Establish evidence-based readiness criteria, incident management systems, and compliance processes aligned with global safety standards (ISO 26262, ISO 21448). Every deployment will meet Grab's bar for safety before scaling.
Define the AV fleet operations guide:
Codify best practices in maintenance, charging, tele-operations, and customer support, turning AVID into the operator of choice for regulators, partners, and passengers alike.
Grow and inspire a high-performing team:
Attract top engineering talent, mentor future leaders, and foster a culture of ownership, technical rigor, and innovation that cements Grab's leadership in the AV era.
Represent Grab externally:
Serve as the technical face of AVID in discussions with global AV partners, regulators, and industry partners, positioning Grab as the indispensable operating partner for autonomous fleets in Southeast Asia and beyond.
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
10+ years in engineering with expertise in backend, distributed systems, and platform-scale services.
Background in API design, real-time data pipelines, and large-scale reliability.
Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures, containerization (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines for high-availability systems.
Solid programming ability (e.g., Go, Java) with readiness to dive into code and reviews.
Experience designing for scale, latency, and fault tolerance.
Track record leading teams and delivering mission-critical systems.
Drive results through collaboration with Product, Operations, and Policy teams
Experience mentoring, coach, and grow engineering talent.
Plus:
Familiarity with AV or robotics integration, including sensor data handling and vehicle-to-cloud communication.
Experience with fleet management platforms, tele-ops, or real-time monitoring systems.
Knowledge of automotive protocols (ROS, DDS, CAN) and safety standards (ISO 26262, ISO 21448).
Exposure to predictive maintenance, telemetry analytics, or scaling tech across regulated markets.
Comfort representing engineering externally with partners, regulators, and industry forums.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and instruct technical maintenance training (knowledge, skills) for classroom training and OJT, leading to qualifications for maintenance of GSEs, airport specialty vehicles.
- Manage maintenance training office in terms of training courses delivery, learning and development solutions, curriculum reviews for effectiveness, as well as trainers' development and deployment.
- Perform learning needs analysis for trainees for the design of courses, OJT and instructional materials.
- Study and introduce appropriate learning technologies and systems, including e-learning as well as learning management systems.
- Develop partnerships with industry parties/stakeholders like GSE OEMs, MRO companies, training institutes and/or government agencies to support maintenance training outcomes for the company as directed.
- Responsible for the serviceability of assigned training equipment and premises.
Key Requirements
- Engineering Degree with at least 3 years of working experience in relevant technical training management role.
- Team player able to work independently with excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, coaching, instructional, analytical and writing skills
- Expertise in learning pedagogy, learning needs analysis and technical training delivery.
- Relevant learning delivery, design, and assessment certifications are advantageous.
- A Class 3 license is required.
