The Position:

We seek a talented and motivated Master Planner to join our team.

As a Master Planner, you will provide design inputs to high-profile international urban design projects, ranging from large-scale city strategies to district-scale master plans.

• Design of Pre-concept and Concept Master Plan schemes for high-profile urban design projects.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our research team on the project titled “An Integrated Multimodal Quantification Method to Designing Landscapes for Well-being”.

This project aims to extend upon previously developed innovative methodologies for assessing urban green spaces for their human well-being potentials through the integration of various quantitative and qualitative research approaches. In this project, we intend to further improve on these methods with an eventual goal of guiding and informing the design of urban landscapes in a Singapore with a specific goal of maximising their benefits to human well-being.

We intend to achieve this through a multimodal approach with the help of our interdisciplinary research team comprising of experts from collaborating institutes which cover the technical aspects of computational modelling, brain-computer interface technologies as well as within NUS focusing on design and application from the lens of landscape architecture.

The research assistant to be hired will specifically be looking at high fidelity 3D environmental visualisations using platforms such as Unreal Engine, and perception and interaction of the virtual and actual environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) and Research Fellow (RF) in managing and executing the research project.

• Drive the area of the project looking at realistic landscape visualisations

• Assist in conducting literature reviews, data collection, and analysis using multimodal research methodologies.

• Assist in designing and implementing experiments related to landscape perception, human well-being, and environmental assessment.

• Assist in coordinating research activities, including participant recruitment and ethical compliance.

• Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and academic publications.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members from partner institutes.

• Assist in supervising student assistants and graduate students where applicable.

• A degree in Interactive Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Digital Media, Game Design, Creative Technology, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Environmental Science, or any other related field.

• Experience with high fidelity 3D environmental visualisations is a requirement, e.g. Unreal Engine and or other visualisation platforms

• Experience with data analysis, computational modelling, information modelling, or human-centred research methods is an advantage.

• Excellent project management, writing, and communication skills.

It offers the professionally accredited Master of Architecture programme as well as a range of graduate and undergraduate programmes in related fields such as urban planning/design, landscape architecture and conservation. The faculty is correspondingly diverse and international. The Department offers internationally competitive remuneration, generous employment benefits as well as access to research funding for both junior and senior academics. International applicants will also receive subsidized housing at Kent Vale.

Successful candidates should be actively engaged in landscape architectural research and design, including but not limited to geospatial analysis, landscape representation, urbanism, ecology, infrastructure, and landscape engineering.
