Our client is a specialist risk underwriter looking to hire experienced M&A candidates, with the focus on W&I insurance, for the Singapore office. The team will be supported by management, along with the underwriting team spread globally in UK and Europe. The team has a wide range of legal, accounting and insurance experience personnel with multilingual language skills and local knowledge. After initial training and ongoing support, this role will select, analyze, and price terms for new M&A enquiries. In addition, the role will fully support and comply with the company's objectives and standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Cultivate and maintain broker relations.
- Analyze data relating to an enquiry: consider the submission, look at the Target's financial, and industry conditions in the assigned underwriting discipline.
- Negotiate effectively and productively with brokers.
- Follow Underwriting Guidelines.

What's This Role Really Like?
This position will principally be responsible for the underwriting, administration and operation of an existing portfolio of Marine Cargo business in conjunction with and under the direction of the appropriate Marine Manager.
In addition to the existing portfolio, a focus on the development of the portfolio by generation of new business is also expected with the assistance of appropriate senior staff.
Areas of Responsibility
- Reviews new risk submission and renewals within assigned authority limits. Secures additional information where necessary and analyses all pertinent data to determine acceptability of risks according to established underwriting standards. Reviews endorsements on existing policies to identify any change in original coverages or amounts. Discusses and seeks direction from the Underwriting Manager and Marine Risk Management, where necessary.
- Evaluates, accepts, rejects, or modifies risks within established underwriting guidelines and authorities seeking guidance from the Underwriting Manager and Marine Risk Management, where necessary.
- Visit producers and promotes Chubb coverages, products, and services in accordance with the Marine Business Plan and under the direction / in association with senior management. Maintains liaison with an appropriate level of producer staff to obtain necessary underwriting information, promote satisfactory service relationship and to encourage the submission of new / targeted business. Answer general enquiries and correspondence from producers. Refers any problems or questions, when necessary, to Underwriting Manager.
- Provide assistance, consultation and advice on underwriting matters to Underwriting Manager and to Marine Risk Management, where necessary
- Assists with the production of standard reports on a regular basis as required.
- Coordinates activities with higher level underwriting staff and with support staff to assure valid and timely response to producers of quotations and production of policies, endorsements, certificates, renewal notices, and other administrative requirements. Assists support staff in production of such where required. Check and reconcile information as required.
- Maintain a high standard of knowledge by membership of and attendance at relevant professional associations, courses, and seminars.
- In conjunction with relevant managers, train and develop effective work team.
- Develop and maintain a continuous program of self-improvement in conjunction with relevant management.
- Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.
- Create a Chubb market presence by active participation in the development of Chubb Singapore.

- Demonstrates underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 2 years' experience, equivalent industry experience, or insurance qualifications.
