Position Summary
This role based in Singapore will play a critical role in ensuring Illumina's adherence to complex import and export regulations across the Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) region. This position requires strong operational skills and a proactive approach to facilitate seamless customs clearance, drive solid trade compliance solutions, and contribute to the enhancement of robust trade compliance programs within the AMEA region.
This role requires exceptional collaboration skills and must have experience of interacting effectively with external partners and government agencies responsible for trade compliance operations. The role requires prior experience in import/export operations, and the candidate must demonstrate knowledge of customs requirements, export and import licensing, economic sanctions, and classification requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Global Trade Compliance (GTC) team that is supporting the company's business growth in AMEA and its vision to transform human health.
Position Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert and support day-to-day export and import operational transactions in the AMEA region. Work with Illumina's customs brokers in the APJ region for timely and accurate customs clearances.
- Use SAP GTS for shipment management, SPL block release, license management, & reporting.
- Work with local governmental agencies to resolve import and export holds.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate import/export risks across the AMEA region. Support the establishment and enforcement of robust internal controls.
- Participate in trade compliance training for internal and external partners.
- Collaborate with global stakeholder teams to develop and implement new trade compliance processes and initiatives across the AMEA region.
- Monitor and interpret new customs/trade regulations and laws in AMEA region.
- Maintain accurate trade data for all products, including ECCNs, HTS codes, Country of Origin, accurate valuation, and invoice accuracy, to ensure timely and compliant customs clearance.
- Maintain recordkeeping and document management related to import/export transactions.
- Support internal/external customers by providing timely updates on export/import shipments.
- Participate in broker evaluations and business reviews.
- Conduct internal audits, identify compliance gaps, and drive corrective actions.
