Overview

Qualifications

Able to handle physically demanding work, which includes transferring and assisting patients

Ability to speak a local language and/or dialect preferred (in order to liaise with the local language and/or dialect-speaking associates/patients)
Prior work experience in a hospital setting will be advantageous

• Assist elderly through prescribed therapeutic exercises and activities to enhance mobility, strength, and overall physical function
• Assist PT and OT with the activities for geriatric client
• Motivate elderly to practice essential life skills with tailored positive reinforcement
• Monitor treatment compliance and record developmental milestones or concerns
• Assist with transfering of patient
• Setup equipment for therapy session and ensure area is clean and safe
• Observe and report elderly progress or challenges to the occupational therapist
• Support the occupational therapist during group therapy session

• WSQ Certificate in Healthcare Support (Therapy Support), or NITEC in Community Care & Social Services
• Min 2 years experience in healthcare or therapy

About the role

You will support in caregiver education, such as assisting in teaching caregivers swallow exercises and preparation of modified diet/fluid consistencies, and facilitate communication between therapists and patients. If you are new to this role, comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to help you thrive in this fulfilling role.
Job Requirements
GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ Level or Diploma in any field
Recognised Certificate in Therapy Services and Experience as a Therapy Assistant in relevant clinical settings will be an advantage

Job Description

• Respond professionally to incoming queries on mental health
• Assess clients' needs and make appropriate arrangements and recommendations (e.g. fixing of appointment for emotional support)
• Provide clients with information on relevant intervention and support, and liaise with other agencies, as required
• Play an advocacy role for misconceptions in mental health (e.g. planning events)
• Identify and escalate emergency and crisis situations to supervisor and assist in the coordination and conduct of crisis resolution
• Prepare, update and document all records and reports accurately, coherently, promptly and thoroughly according to organizational procedures to ensure compliance, and ease of review and retrieval
• Complete assigned tasks and necessary reports on time
