As a Therapeutic Support Specialist with The Salvation Army, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic support to children, youth, and families in our residential care and community programs. You will work closely with social workers and psychologists to implement care plans and provide emotional support, skill-building, and crisis intervention in a collaborative team environment.

  • Provide counselling and psychoeducation to clients dealing with trauma, family conflict, and behavioural challenges.

Key Qualifications:

This position will be reporting to the Principal Physiotherapist and work hand in hand for providing day-to-day management and leadership of assigned teams of therapy services in the Therapy Department.

  • The typical responsibilities of a physiotherapist include:
  • Clinical Care: Ensure compliance with all therapy standards as stipulated by the Ministry of Health and Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC). Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document therapy needs of residents to facilitate, restore, improve, or maintain movement/function for all new admissions. Review and update plans every six months or more frequently as needed.
  • Clinical Care: Provide leadership to the therapy staff to ensure safe and quality resident care and compliance to standards. Supervise, evaluate, and discipline staff in her/his team.
  • Clinical Care: Promote evidence-based practices on therapy services.
  • Clinical Care: Ensure written policies, procedures, and work processes are available and up-to-date to guide therapy services.
  • Clinical Care: Evaluate and ensure that therapy services are delivered in accordance with policies, guidelines, and procedures.

Job Requirements
  • Must be registered as a Physiotherapist with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
  • A team player and able to work independently.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organizational, management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum 1 year experience or above. For Senior PT position: At least 5 years of Physiotherapy experience in healthcare settings.
  • Minimum Diploma in Physiotherapy or above.
  • Able to converse in Mandarin to communicate with Chinese-speaking residents.
  • Experience with elderly patients is an advantage.
