Job Description Summary:
What do you need to know about the role: PayPal's Corporate Tax Department is seeking a Sr Manager, Global Tax Reporting and Compliance, to join its Global Tax Reporting and Compliance Team. This role will work collaboratively with colleagues across Tax, Controllership, and Business teams, to support the preparation and review of the company's quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations for APAC countries. Responsibilities will also include effective tax rate forecasting, analysis of proposed and enacted tax legislation, preparation of local income tax returns, audit support, and advising on business initiatives.

Key responsibilities include the following for APAC countries:

Analysis and review of business initiatives with business advisory team
Coordination and computation with local controllership of quarterly and annual US GAAP tax provisions
Coordination and computation with local controllership of quarterly and annual Statutory tax provisions
Evaluation of FIN 48 / IFRIC tax reserves and development of support computations
Assistance with compilation of support and review of local income tax returns
Detailed analysis of income tax return and audit support workpapers
Pillar 2 minimum tax computations and compliance
Coordination with the local controllership team to provide data for local audit responses
What you need to bring:
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance equivalent; CPA; Masters in Taxation preferred
12+ years of progressive professional experience in ASC740 income tax accounting and local accounting standards for publicly held multinational companies
12+ years of progressive professional experience in income tax compliance
Excellent tax accounting and tax compliance technical skills, analytical thinker, detail oriented
Ability to collaborate as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to effectively relate tax accounting issues to non-tax provision personnel
Fluent in English required
Singapore/other APAC country tax background with familiarity of US tax concepts. Familiarity with current OECD BEPS guidance, Pillar 2 and country by country reporting
Resourcefulness and adaptability; self-motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent prioritization and organizational skills

What you will be working on

As a manager in Finance – Tax and Payout Reporting team, you would be performing various roles in the team to support the team's mission in reporting taxes collected/refunded by IRAS as an agent of the government, as well as reporting of enterprise payout disbursed, offsets and recovered by IRAS as a Centre of Excellence of Enterprise Disbursements.

Tax Administration

  • Perform operational reconciliation and accounting functions (Cash Accounting) for tax revenue accounts/deposit accounts in system
  • Prepare the Statement of Moneys Collected on behalf of Government and supporting schedules after the closure of accounts for the financial year.
  • Prepare the submission of returns to MOF according to AGD's circulars.
  • Prepare reports required for year-end closing of accounts in accordance to AGD's Circular for FY closing arrangements.

Enterprise Disbursements

  • Perform reconciliation activities and monitoring of investment of trust funds.
  • Preparing annual financial statements for Trust Funds in compliance with relevant Trust Deeds.

Deployment of digital tools and automation

  • Monthly Power BI dashboard reporting on revenue collections and grant disbursements.
  • Develop Macro/RPA scripts to automate operational processes within the team to improve work productivity.
  • Project involvement to review system requirements and perform user acceptance testing.

Financial Reporting and Tax

Brief Overview:

SGX Finance comprises various teams including Financial Reporting and Tax (FRT) and CFO Unit Operations and Controls (COC).

FRT is responsible for (i) SGX Group's financial reporting, accounting, and advisory matters, and (ii) all local and overseas tax matters of SGX Group, including corporate tax, withholding tax, GST/VAT, FATCA/ CRS.

COC is responsible for (i) overseeing the risk and controls issues in CFO Unit, including the running of Risk and Control Self-Assessment program and governance of vendor managed services, (ii) finance operations such as billing, receipts from customers and procure to pay activities, and (iii) treasury support on banking, investments, and funding matters.

Learning Objectives:

The selected intern will gain multi-disciplinary exposure within Finance.

Key learnings include:

  • In-depth financial analysis skills, including use of available generative AI tools
  • Understanding and appreciation of Finance function, including respective policies, processes, and control activities
