• Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in System Architecture and Design.
Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering, software development and network infrastructure.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex technical issues.
Excellent Oral, Communication & liaison skills.
Good knowledge of UML and other modelling methods.
Experience on Software Architecture such as Micro-Services, N-Tier Architecture.
Experience using team collaboration tools(e.g., JIRA) will be added advantage.
Relevant certifications in System Architecture and Design will be beneficial

The System Architect (Project Design Authority) plays a critical role in designing and implementing secure, scalable, and high-performance network solutions for train system-related subsystems, including CCTV, Passenger Announcement Systems, Master Clock, SCADA, Tetra Radio and other critical infrastructure. This role ensures that the overall architecture aligns with project requirements, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices.
This position reports functionally to the Engineering Director and operationally to the Project Manager while interfacing with various stakeholders, including internal technical teams, vendors, and customers.
He/she interfaces with the Technical Directorate from the Business Line as representative of the technical solution for a project or bid solution.
You will enjoy having these responsibilities:
- Design and oversee the architecture of network solutions that integrate with train control and station subsystems such as CCTV, Passenger Information Systems (PIS), Public Announcement (PA) systems, and Master Clock synchronization.
- Ensure network infrastructure and overall system solutions meets security, performance, and redundancy requirements for mission-critical transportation systems.
- Conduct trade studies to evaluate design alternatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with system integrators, software developers, and hardware vendors to define and implement optimal solutions.
- Lead discussions with customers and internal teams to define system and subsystem requirements and architecture.
- Provide technical guidance and approval for system architecture, ensuring alignment with business and operational needs.
- Oversee the documentation of designs to meet project and customer requirements.
- Review and evaluate third-party solutions for compatibility with Hitachi Rail’s ground transportation systems.
- Drive multi-project synergies to optimize the cost and efficiency of technical solutions.
- Define policies, standards, and best practices for engineering teams in collaboration with the Systems Engineering Manager.
- Flexible to support both projects and bid proposals as a key technical representative
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as AWS Certification, CISCO Certification (CCNP, CCIE), or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior network engineering or architecture role.
- Expertise in architecting complex solutions, including hardware and software integration with focus on networking but understanding in other subsystems
- Strong experience in IT infrastructure design, large-scale networking, virtualization, and containerization.
- In-depth understanding of software architectures, including N-Tier Architecture, SOA, and microservices.
- Experience working with transportation communication systems such as SCADA, Public Announcement Systems, Passenger Information Systems, and Tetra Radio.
- Strong knowledge of network security, redundancy, and failover strategies in mission-critical systems.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and handling multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and technical teams.
- Membership in relevant professional organizations such as INCOSE or the Institution of Engineers Singapore is preferred.
- Experience with data analytics and machine learning applications in transportation networks.
- Background in project management or system delivery management.
- Understanding of full Systems Engineering lifecycle principles.

Role Overview
The System Architect is responsible for defining and delivering the shared technical and architectural vision for the delivered as part of the Agile Release Train (ART).
The technology includes systems (applications, processes and information), shared infrastructure services, shared application services, and their effective integration across Global Broking Rates and FX. The System Architect is working to align Feature teams to this vision and ensure the systems under development support the evolving business need and enables fast reliable implementation of value.
As a core role steering the wider team alongside the Release Train Engineer (RTE) & Product Managers, the System Architect collaborates with the Feature teams to design and develop the architecture and create the Architecture Runway in line with Enterprise standards, patterns and roadmaps.
Role Responsibilities
- Define Architecture vision – The System Architect’s primary responsibility is defining the architecture vision and communicating it clearly to the ART. Consulting with product management to translate vision into ART backlog Epics for effective implementation.
- Align Architecture with the business, priorities and the vision – The System Architect defines, evolves, and maintains the architectural runway ensuring the delivery of business value. Collaborating with Product to design a solution which is technically feasible with architectural enablers. Ensure alignment with the Enterprise Architectural vision and ensure the ART’s system is in line with it, as well as ensuring its contribution to the wider TP ICAP Architecture capability.
- Support DevOps – The System Architect supports with the design of a continuous delivery pipeline and DevOps practices, participating in the release governance process by assessing technology impacts for specific releases. Responsible for maintaining architecture and system tools, documentation, and other technical assets.
- Fostering Built-in Quality – Promote system design that creates built-in quality, reusability and manage Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) for the wider team. As the System Architect you define NFRs and provide guidance for their timely and effective implementation to avoid NFRs building up and impacting the system.
- Evolve System Design with teams – System Architects establish sustainable interactions with sub-teams to gather feedback on architecture design and the realities of implementation to validate or evolve architectural ideas.
