  • Regularly go on board container and bulk carrier vessels to carry out inspections, measurements, and repair work. Up to 80% of your working week may be spent on board vessels. Weekend work will be required.
  • Regularly travel to ports and shipyards in Singapore as well as anchorages in Singapore waters to carry out inspections, measurements and repair work. Up to 80% of your working week may be spent at ports, shipyards and anchorages. Weekend work will be required.
  • Manage and supervise a team of welders, machinists, fitters, technicians and other repair workers both onboard vessels and in the company workshop
  • Manage fabrication, welding, and balancing of vessel spare parts and components in the company workshop
  • Effectively manage multiple repair jobs on different vessels simultaneously
  • Plan manpower, materials, and work schedules for repair jobs
  • Be responsible for timely delivery of repair jobs
  • Provide cost estimates for repair enquiries
  • Understand technical drawings
  • Prepare inspection, technical, and service reports
  • Create worklists, delivery orders, and other documentation
  • Develop strong working relationships with suppliers and request price quotations for vessel spare parts, main engine components and tools
  • Develop strong working relationships with ship captains, chief engineers, and crew
  • Develop effective working relationships with various teams within the company

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Marine / Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar capacity at a ship repair company, shipyard, ship owner company, or ship management company
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Fluent in English
  • Must be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident (PR)
