Job Description
You will assist in the delivery of smooth-running Science and STEM lessons, support students and teachers in investigative projects, ensuring safe lab practices and facilitating engaging, hands-on learning experiences. The Laboratory Technician is expected to develop and maintain effective working relationships with science teachers, students and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in the daily management and operations of the Science lab, including preparation and maintenance of materials and equipment for practical classes to ensure practical work is conducted smoothly and efficiently.
- Conduct safety inspections to determine whether conditions are safe or any remedial actions need to be taken.
- Maintain records of health safety for compliance with government and school regulations.
- Uphold responsibility for inventory/ stock-taking to track school supplies and source for and purchase materials for practical to ensure a sufficient supply of required materials.
- Assist Laboratory Manager in coordinating lab & curriculum needs, preparing subject lab budget in collaboration with teachers and monitoring the expenditure for practical and project requirements.
- Collaborate with teachers on STEM learning experiences and student project support
- Liaise with external vendors and partners on laboratory checks, asset management and service support.
Requirements
- Possess a Diploma in Science discipline.
- Possess good interpersonal and IT literate skills.
- Able to work independently and conscientiously.
- Prior experience in laboratory work in secondary schools and/or industries and familiarity with safety requirements in science laboratories.

Main Objective: Oversee and control all processes and tasks related to Arthrolab Singapore Medical Education events and support the Medical Education team with corporate events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for regular inspection of all Medical Education capital equipment
- Responsible for setup, breakdown, maintenance, and disinfection of laboratory equipment and facilities, ensuring cleanliness and operational readiness across both in-house and off-site lab environments.
- Assist Lab Operations Manager in SAP orders and follow up
- Assist Lab Operations Manager in creating and managing end-to-end orders, repairs, and inventory maintenance
- Assist in purchasing all supplies necessary for the daily operation of the department and offsite labs as needed.
- Work with Lab Operations Manager for lab supplies, implant, and disposable consumption and usage and provide forecast as per medical education schedule
- Work with Lab Operations Manager for lab inventory accuracy, management, and ordering needs for new products, replacing missing, damaged, and obsolete, and destruction of components.
- Coordinate the forecasting, procurement, inventory accuracy, and disposal of cadaver specimens with Lab Operations Manager
- Full understanding and implementation of contamination protocol.
- Disposal of human tissues, medical samples according to local regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance and local regulatory controls for management of human tissues and radiation equipment
- Observes all blood-borne pathogen and related safety procedures.
- Ensure that the lab facility represents Arthrex as the leader in the industry.
- Responsible for maintaining tidiness and cleanliness of all lab and storage facilities
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the Arthrex product line.
- Support local medical education events. This includes setup, arrangement, and breakdown of offsite labs and exhibits (if required)
- Required to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time in support of offsite events when necessary.
- Will be required to work some weekends.
Education and Experience:
BS in Management or Bio-Medical Sciences or possesses at least 2 years of related lab experience. Able to show progression towards an in-depth knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures. Experience in the orthopedic industry preferred.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Ability to logistically manage a lab environment independently.
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Proven ability to demonstrate initiative
- Aptitude to teach and develop orthopedic training skills.
- Knowledge of SAP preferable
- Great planning and organizational skills
