Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Science Laboratory Assistant. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our team in the science laboratory.

• Support daily practical and exam preparations by ensuring that all necessary materials and equipment are readily available.
• Dispense chemicals and lay out apparatus (glassware, chemicals, safety goggles, etc.) as required.
• Collect and clear away equipment and chemicals, and other teaching materials after each practical, adhering to safe disposal procedures and washing glass apparatus.
• Before the start of each term during term break, conduct general replenishment of bench reagents.
• Perform any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Science Lab Technician.

• Hold at least primary level qualifications, with the ability to read and write effectively.
• Possess basic knowledge of lab settings and chemical preparation, which would be an advantage.
• Relevant past experience working in a science lab environment would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Be a team player with a positive attitude and pleasant disposition.
• Able to work independently and take initiative when required.

Monday to Friday: 7:30am to 4:00pm, inclusive of a 1-hour lunch break.

Job Description:

• Conduct research and provide technical expertise in fish reproduction, genetics, diagnostics, health, and developmental biology.
• Analyse research findings and disseminate data.
• Achieving project KPIs, guiding researchers through training, and publishing research articles in alignment with the grant objectives.
• Coordinate with external collaborators on project development.
• Document, collate, analyse and interpret data.
• Carry out procurement, including liaising with vendors, sourcing for materials, equipment and testing, and raising purchase requests.
• Document and track project issues, expenses and budget tracking.
• Mentor students involved in final year projects, internships, short-term work attachments, and similar programmes.
• Plan experiments and prepare progress reports for regular project updates.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by the project leader and co-project leaders.

• Relevant qualifications in aquaculture or fish reproduction or fish developmental biology or molecular biology/genetics/ genomics.
• Relevant experience as demonstrated by scientific publications in the areas of expertise.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with people at all levels.
• Possess sound planning, organising, good multi-tasking skills, with a strong sense of responsibility for completing assigned duties on time.
• Proficient in IT skills.

• Successful candidate will be employed on a contract basis and will be based either fully or on a rotational basis at one of the local partner institutions.

This key role supports APAC functions with advanced analytics, data science, and operations research to improve business processes and strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Analysis & Problem Solving:
• Use advanced analytics to identify and solve operational issues across APAC.
• Create models and simulations for process optimization using techniques like machine learning, optimization, AI, and statistical analysis.
• Present findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
• Train and coach business analysts on advanced data analysis methods.

2. Advisory & Project Management:
• Recommend analytics solutions for key business strategies.
• Work with BI, Data Management, and Analytics teams to develop and implement solutions.
• Track progress, report outcomes, and collaborate on delivery.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, or related fields.
• Experience: 6+ years in data science, analytics, and operations research (experience in Supply Chain/Last Mile delivery is a plus).
• Skills:
  • Expertise with optimization tools (GUROBI, CPLEX, etc.), Generative AI and data science techniques (predictive modeling, clustering).
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or C++.
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and visualization skills.
  • Excellent business acumen and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
  • Project management experience is a plus.
