We are seeking a Library Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the library, including processing and circulation of resources, shelving library materials, and conducting library programs.
As a key member of our library team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our library runs smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
- Ensuring efficient processing and circulation of resources to students and other library patrons.
- Shelving library materials and reading shelves in accordance with recognized library standards i.e., DDC for school libraries
- Cataloguing and processing new materials promptly to have them ready for borrowing
- Creation of promotional materials and displays to support the school curriculum and library programmes
- Conducting library programs and activities
- Generating regular reports on loans, overdue items, fines and other collection-related statistics
- Ensuring good housekeeping in the library, including tidying the library and maintaining clear and accurate shelf signages to assist patrons in locating materials.
- Following up with students and staff on overdue, damaged and/or lost books
- Working with stakeholders to manage damaged and/or lost books. This includes withdrawing, repairing or reconditioning library materials.
- Stocktaking and weeding of library materials
Key Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:
- 4 GCE 'O' level passes, including English
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Enjoy interacting with students and teachers
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Openness to learning to operate the Library System, with training provided
- Ability to work comfortably independently
- Physical stamina to perform tasks such as stooping, bending, lifting and reaching for picking up and shelving books.
