The Maintenance Lead is responsible for:

(1) working as a key member of the SBS Transit Mobility team on rail tenders as leader of the Maintenance and Asset Management workstream; and/or

(2) when deployed to a rail operation - leading the maintenance and repair of rail systems and its associated equipment for rollingstock and infrastructure. The Maintenance Lead could be nominated as Asset & Maintenance Manager and will lead the Asset Management team for the rail operation and be responsible for organising labour and materials as needed in accordance with specified procedures and regulations.

Major Responsibilities:

• Operations Concept and Plans Development

  o Develop and implement development strategies and concepts relating to rail operations to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity

  o Support review of operations plans, including contingency and exercise plans

• Operations Capability Development through Technology Adoption

  o Support the development of operations capabilities enabled by technology to enhance communication, sense making and decision making of rail operations

• Workforce Capability and Professional Development

  o Develop and implement structured competency roadmaps for rail operations staff under the Rail Achiever Scheme

  o Work with HR/OD and Rail Training Institution to establish certification, accreditation, and continuous learning pathways

• Operations Support for Tenders & Mobilizations

  o Provide subject matter expertise in operations to support both local and international rail tender bids.

  o Lead the operations work streams in mobilizations

• Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  o Collaborate with Maintenance/Engineering, and Safety teams to ensure alignment of operations strategies and implementation

  o Engage with OEMs, PTOs, regulators, and industry partners to adopt best practices and shape industry standards

Perform other duties as directed by his/ her superiors.

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Transportation Management or Operations Management

• 5 to 10+ years of relevant experience in a rail operations or engineering/ maintenance environment, or a similar role

• Prior experience with project management systems and operations safety

• Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplined team in various locations

• Demonstrated ability of managing external stakeholders

• Knowledge of safety legislation and statutes, and an ability to interpret applicable legislation as relevant to operations

• Skilled in safety management, risk assessment and development of risk controls and actions

The role of a Bus-Tram Captain involves providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the safe operation of buses and trams.

• Operate vehicles safely, following traffic laws and company procedures.
• Adhere to scheduled service times and routes, adjusting only when required due to road or safety conditions.
• Liaise with the Service Controller for instructions in case of delays, route disruptions, or emergencies.
• Ensure vehicle signage is correctly displayed before and during service.

A Bus-Tram Captain must possess excellent communication skills, as well as confidence in using onboard announcement systems.

In addition to these responsibilities, a Bus-Tram Captain must adhere to all policies and procedures, prioritize safety, and report any injuries or concerns regarding health and safety issues.

• Valid Certificate 4 driving license
• Valid Bus Driver's Vocational License (company sponsor available for suitable candidate without BDVL)
• Secondary education/WPL Level 3, or an equivalent
• Strong awareness of road safety and vehicle operation
• Excellent communication skills
• Confidence in using onboard announcement systems

Prior experience in public transport or tourism service environments is a plus.
