Senior Store Design & Construction Manager
We are looking for a Senior Store Design & Construction Manager to lead and manage the expansion of Sephora stores in SEA. You will be responsible for the adaptation and execution of Design guidelines and the owner of Sephora's image in the region.
You will manage several projects simultaneously, from concept phase to delivery, while leading a team of store designers. You will play a key role in driving impactful collaboration across cross-functional teams, ensuring we achieve outstanding results through synergy and efficiency.
The role reports directly to the SEA Retail Director, with a dotted line reporting to the Design Director for all creative related matters.
DESIGN AND CREATION
- Serve as the brand advocate in managing the store concepts roll-out plan in SEA. Adapt to formats, from standard to flagship stores
- Capture the market's specificities to provide a local adaptation while adhering to global guidelines
- Participate in any prospective / global reflection or project in relationship with the store design evolution and/or best practices adaptation
- Update design guidelines when needed and ensure clear communication and efficient execution
- Manage and optimize the Design process: from brief to completion while providing all the required documents such as Layout, 3Ds, Schematic Design
- Initiate, follow up and check all the deliverables, control and optimize any design solution
- Ensure alignment with LVMH's recommendations on sustainability and energy saving
CONSTRUCTION & QUALITY CONTROL
- Work closely with consultants to ensure contractor does not deviate from design objective and detailing.
- Responsible to take over the premises from Landlord on behalf of Sephora. Ensure all non-conformance are being raised and recorded for rectification.
- Develop snag list upon completion review with contractor and consultant. Ensure all defects are being completed with report.
- QA/QC inspection to ensure quality is within range.
- Work closely with country operations team to oversee store maintenance and improvement
- Work closely with Regional and Country category team to execute and oversee new fixture roll out
SYNERGY
- Work closely with cross functional teams to ensure the best execution within timeline and budget
- Ensure smooth and efficient collaboration with the Construction teams on areas such as creative and technical support, store visits, construction follow up, snag list
- Manage new Stores or Renovation opening planning
- Ensure clear communication and regular exchanges with SEA stakeholders to keep them updated and collect their feedback and/or requests.
- Work closely with the Fixture Design Department to ensure any fixture evolution is integrated into the store design execution.
- Communicate locally, regionally and globally to bring visibility on the activity in the SEA region.
PEOPLE
- Lead and manage the SEA Store Design Team including Store Designers, External Design Agencies and / or suppliers.
- Assess, develop, recruit and motivate the Store Design team to deliver outstanding results
- Define team priorities and responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience in Retail Design / Retail agencies or Corporate in house / Beauty brand would be preferred
- Track record of successfully managing concurrent, fast-moving initiatives
- Effective team player across diverse disciplines and cultures
- Excellent communication skills with cultural diversities
- Creative and pro-active with a deep sense of details, technical solutions and innovation
- Proficient in CAD / 3D / photoshop / sketch up / hand drawing
- Travelling is required for the role

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that all retail and office spaces at JEM and PLQ — including new tenant fit-outs — are fully operational and ready by their scheduled opening dates, contributing directly to the success of two of our flagship developments.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Ensure that all stores/units are fully operational by the established opening date.
- Ensure that the stores are executed retail design standards adhering to the set design criteria relative to the design guideline.
- Put focus on the management of the merchant relationship and ensuring internal construction and design teams are fully aware of the lease forms and conditions and requirements by the tenant.
- Ensure business drive solutions, on-site store delivery, and minimization of downtime in the income stream because of programmed openings.
- Enhance process and ensure that it is achieved through both customer focus and the ongoing relationship with retailers, their contractors, builders and or shop fitters. To this, the TDM must be multidiscipline in Retail knowledge, project management and construction management.
- Liaise with leasing department relating to the delivery process. This includes timely coordination with leasing in order seek clarification regarding agreed terms and conditions with merchants and track activities to ensure that tenancy is handed over to lessee by the established and agreed deadline.
- Coordinate with the lessee to obtain permits and approval of works associated with the tenancy and mall operational.
- Support property feasibility studies and involve actively in the upkeep of property design enhancement works.
- Keep abreast of current market and consumer behaviour, trends and design to share with teammates and tenants to keep designs updated.
- Be an excellent team-player to successfully open the mall with high numbers of store opening.
Required Background
- Degree or Diploma in architectural, interior design or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in architectural and retail designing.
- Essential experience in the retail shopping centre environment.
- Strong administrative skill in communication and organizational skills, as well as project management skills.
- Good time management with high degree of flexibility and good problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge and experienced in various statutory requirements in planning and design of the built environment.
- Software Proficiency in auto-cad, photoshop and 3-D sketch-up, and most Microsoft Office software.
- Good knowledge of technical detailing and fitting out project management in the construction industry.

You will collaborate with the visual merchandising team and cross-functional teams to ensure that our brand's identity, messaging, and design are consistently represented.
- Conceptualise and design iconic and exciting physical retail stores, event spaces, and pop-up activations that align with our brand identity.
- Develop 2D plans, 3D visualisations, and mood boards to communicate design intent and present to stakeholders.
- Design and unify merchandising systems, window displays, signage, and product display units.
- Develop compelling designs that highlight products through optimising customer flow and engagement.
- Collaborate with the Trade Marketing team to conceptualise and deploy VM related design strategies.
- Prepare technical drawings and specifications for vendors and fabricators.
- Oversee overall production, installation, and quality control.
- Stay up-to-date with global retail, experiential, and spatial design trends.
- Explore new materials, interactive technologies, and sustainable design solutions.
- Develop consistency in brand image, design, and messaging across all retail and spatial touchpoints.
- Enhance brand awareness through strong retail and space design.
- Possess prior experience in graphic, visual merchandising or spatial design.
- Experience in leading a small team of graphic designers.
- Proven experience or education in graphic design or visual communication.
- Deep knowledge of the Adobe Suite, with demonstrated expertise in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Knowledge of 3D softwares such as Sketchup or 3D Max.
- Well-rounded skills in graphics, layouts, and typography.
- Knowledge of, and interest in current visual merchandising design trends and best practices.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask efficiently on different projects.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Prior experience in FMCG visual merchandising or packaging design would be beneficial.
