About this role

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Scientific Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in scientific research and management, with experience in leading teams and projects.

The primary role of the Senior Scientific Officer will be to design, oversee, conduct and further scientific research in our group. This will involve staying up-to-date with the latest scientific literature, identifying emerging trends and areas for research, and developing new methodologies to advance knowledge within the group.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Manage a team to ensure that projects are completed on time and within scope
• Develop research proposals, budgets, and timelines for new projects
• Participate in strategic-planning activities, such as identifying new research opportunities and assessing potential clinical translation of research
• Review scientific publications to keep up to date with the current knowledge in relevant fields
• Lead research conduct and develop new methodologies in order to advance knowledge within the group and in the group's area of interest
• Communicate scientific findings, such as through published research papers or presentations at scientific conferences
• Foster collaborations with other academic institutions and industry partners

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant discipline such as Microbiology, Biomedical/Life Sciences, Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology, Public Health etc.
• At least 3 to 5 years of post-doctoral experience working in a research / clinical / public health laboratory
• Prior experience in publication of research findings would be an advantage

This role involves collaborating with students to conduct experiments and obtain reliable data.

• Perform processing and storage of umbilical cord blood units and cord tissue.
• Evaluate all laboratory activities for compliance with documented procedures and protocols.

This role is responsible for assisting the Science Department in maintaining four science laboratories.

• Maintaining and ensuring the safe operation of laboratory equipment
• Preparing and organizing laboratory materials, chemicals, and apparatus
• Managing inventory, procurement, and resource allocation
• Developing and implementing safety protocols and procedures
• Sourcing relevant multimedia resources for teachers
• Liaising with external suppliers for maintenance and repair services

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in the laboratory analysis of fuels, deposit, and chemical samples to support troubleshooting and product performance evaluation.

• Manage and perform laboratory analysis of fuels, deposit, and chemical samples to assist in troubleshooting and product performance evaluation.
• Assist in the development of suitable formulations with existing components, including package stability and no-harm testing, to support business growth.
• Responsible for maintaining the laboratory and equipment in good and safe working conditions to ensure the generation of quality data.
• Provide technical support in analytical methods, PDS, MSDS, and PSS.
• Manage and oversee the quality function of AsPac (SAP) and AsPac toll blending facilities.
• Prepare technical reports and bulletins on projects undertaken.
• Maintain test data and technical reports for reference.
• Sample management: Maintain sample inventory to ensure an efficient system for sending/receiving samples to/from customers.
• Responsible for training new colleagues in laboratory analysis, data, and sample management.
• Coordinate and assist product performance field testing in AsPac.

1. Diploma/Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Process Technology, or equivalent.
2. Minimum 3 years of analytical testing experience in an industrial laboratory environment - preferably for petroleum/petrochemical/specialty chemical industry.
3. Computer literate with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.
4. IQ components: Analytical, problem-solving skills, understanding of chemistry, refining, and QC procedures, hands-on.
5. EQ components: Willingness to travel, cultural awareness, effective communication, teamwork.
6. Conversant in English.
