Job Description
We are seeking Research Scientists for our quantum research team in Singapore.
The Quantinuum office in Singapore is a hub for scientific discovery and cutting-edge research that will inspire quantum solutions to the world’s most complex problems in fields including for example computational biology, finance, chemistry, and optimization. Working in close partnership with Singapore’s National Quantum Office (NQO), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), National University of Singapore (NUS), Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), and National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC), the center will cater to fostering Singapore’s growing quantum computing ecosystem, offering a platform to co-develop use cases and quantum algorithms for implementation on local quantum computing hardware.
Our team members regularly publish scientific papers and present their results at leading conferences. In this role, you will work in a collaborative environment and contribute to advancing our state-of-the-art quantum computing stack. You will also engage with our academic and industry partners.
Responsibilities
Conduct research on new quantum algorithms for areas including biology, finance, chemistry, and optimization models
Develop and implement novel quantum algorithms integrated with early fault-tolerant protocols and error correction or detection primitives
Contribute to end-to-end resource estimation of quantum algorithms under realistic hardware constraints
Communicate scientific results internally across teams and externally through publications and conference presentations
Engage with clients on projects in the above mentioned areas
Must Have
PhD in a relevant field (physics, mathematics, computer science etc.)
Research experience in quantum algorithms, along with demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas: quantum algorithm design and optimization, realistic noise models of quantum hardware, quantum error correction, and (partially) fault-tolerant protocols
We value
Demonstrated research track record via publications in a relevant field
Deep knowledge of quantum computing and quantum algorithm design
Hands-on experience with implementing quantum algorithms on simulators or hardware
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Programming skills in a high-level language such as Python and relevant tools such as pytket, Qiskit etc.
What is in it for you?
Working alongside a highly talented team, with leading names in the quantum computing industry. We offer a highly competitive package, equity, a positive approach to flexible working and benefits.

Job Description
An overview of this role
This role focuses on designing and specifying the orchestration layer for large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computers. You will help define how active quantum error correction (QEC) cycles, decoders, and control systems integrate into a coherent architecture that connects hardware, software, and HPC resources.
The role involves analysing Pauli frame propagation, designing I/O interfaces for syndrome decoders, implementing active QEC cycles on hardware testbeds, and evaluating FPGA-based control systems for performance improvements. You will also bring together the quantum node level (QPU, CPU, decoder) with higher-level orchestration across hybrid quantum–classical clusters. Success requires a strong physics background, systems-level thinking, and the ability to work with both quantum software and hardware.
What You will contribute
- Define orchestration requirements for active QEC in FTQC systems.
- Model Pauli frame propagation and design syndrome decoding interfaces to enable real-time active QEC.
- Design and specify I/O interfaces between syndrome decoders and orchestration software.
- Test and validate active QEC cycles on real quantum hardware.
- Analyse FPGA-based control systems to identify and implement performance improvements.
- Define integration strategies for combining HPC and classical orchestration with quantum node-level resource management.
- Collaborate with hardware teams, control engineers, and software developers to ensure architectural coherence.
- Contribute to technical documentation, architecture blueprints, and system specifications.
Job Requirements
- Strong understanding of quantum error correction principles and quantum system dynamics.
- Experience with modelling quantum systems or control processes.
- Experience with FPGA programming or low-level control systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with quantum compilers, decoders, and orchestration frameworks.
- Proficiency in Python; additional experience in hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog) is advantageous.
- Comfort working across software and hardware teams to bridge theory and implementation.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- PhD or Master's in Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline
